The Fate of SMC is in our Hands
The Future of Super Mecha Champions: A Call to Preserve Our Virtual World

As an avid player of Super Mecha Champions (SMC), I find myself increasingly concerned about the future of our beloved game. Developed by NetEase Games, SMC has captured the hearts of many gamers with its thrilling mecha battles and captivating gameplay. Yet, beneath the surface, there lurks a looming threat that we, as a community, must confront: the eventual closure of its servers.

Like many online games, SMC faces the inevitable cycle of life in the gaming industry. As newer games emerge, technology advances, and player interests shift, older titles often struggle to maintain their player base and profitability. This natural evolution can lead developers to make the difficult decision to shut down servers, leaving communities scattered and memories lost.

The signs of a game's sunset are not always immediately apparent. Decreasing player numbers, slower update cycles, and reduced developer communication can all serve as warning signals. In the case of SMC, we've seen fluctuations in player activity and a slowing down of content updates. These are not necessarily causes for panic but rather calls to action.

So, what can we, the community of Super Mecha Champions, do to prolong the life of our virtual universe?

Firstly, **Engagement and Support**: Stay engaged with the game and its community. Actively participate in forums, social media discussions, and in-game events. Your presence not only keeps the game alive but also inspires newcomers to join our ranks.

Secondly, **Feedback and Communication**: Provide constructive feedback to the developers. Share your ideas for improvements and new features. Constructive criticism helps developers understand what players want and need, potentially extending the game's lifespan.

Thirdly, **Spread the Word**: Introduce SMC to friends and fellow gamers. A growing player base strengthens the game's community and its financial viability. Word of mouth remains a powerful tool in sustaining interest and ensuring a vibrant player ecosystem.

Fourthly, **Monetary Support**: While optional, financial support through in-game purchases or subscriptions can significantly bolster the game's revenue stream. This financial backing helps fund ongoing development and server maintenance.

Lastly, **Preserve Memories**: Document your experiences in Super Mecha Champions. Whether through screenshots, videos, or written accounts, preserve the memories that make this game special to you. Memories endure beyond server closures and keep the spirit of SMC alive in our hearts.

As we navigate the uncertain waters of SMC's future, let us remember that our actions today shape tomorrow's outcomes. By actively participating, providing feedback, spreading the word, offering financial support, and preserving memories, we can collectively strive to extend the life of Super Mecha Champions. Together, we can ensure that our virtual world continues to thrive for years to come.

Breaknecks_TTV, (Hotsteel Main)

Let us stand united, pilots of SMC, and embrace the challenge of safeguarding our beloved game. Our journey continues, and the future of Super Mecha Champions lies in our hands.

Unfortunately, the game is already confirmed to have no development team employed anymore
in the SMC discords, it's been announced by snowman that the game is on a extended support type of system
in other words, no new content beyond one more pilot, one more mecha, and one more map
beyond that it'll just be minor balancing adjustments and things of the such

I think it's very worthwhile to still engage with the game we love, but it's also important to address this fact so we are all aware

who is the last pilot?

probably had the devs move over to work on project mugen.

I've been hoping it would just die for a long time. Really fun but the devs clearly stopped caring about it super early. In a perfect world we'd get a successor with actual support.

Breaknecks, we have had many a good match against each other. You were always a good sport and you always gave the game your all. I always enjoyed every match I played against you because I knew the match was going to end with one of us getting the better of the other, and I never knew which was going to be me.

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do. Regardless of whether we remain engaged with the game or not, spend more money or not, etc, the game is on Death Row with no chance of clemency.

The only way this game can continue is if NetEase released the server code so that players could run private servers, or if players run a packet sniffer and save network packets sent to and received from the server. If the latter happened, these could be used by people to reverse engineer the server and create private servers such as what has happened with many old and dead online games (old versions of Warcraft, Exteel, Star Wars Galaxies, etc). However, that takes a lot of time, and time is money. Most people probably would consider it a waste of time.

It really is a fun game and I hope that NetEase releases server executables, or at the very least patches the game to allow for P2P connections at minimum. But since it is a gachapon game and its only reason for existing was to make money, it has no further action from NetEase planned. No further action from any of us can change that.

Creative destruction, Cyber Hunter, all are shut down and shutting down, this one might suffer the same fate as those. Nothing last forever, however they should of made those two games oflfine playable at least vs Bots.

Would be nice if this game goes offline into offline mode, but i doubt it. so enjoy it while its here.

I came back to the game really late but wanted to say that this is some of the most fun I've had. Love this game and thank you all for playing with me.
