Why is the game stuck in Chinese in Asia only servers even though I downloaded it from the UK where I live?

My sister and I have been trying to play this game together for days but for some reason even though I got this from a Steam uk server it's always in chinese no matter what I do! Is there any way at all to change it into a language I understand and if so how? We've been wracking our brains and can't even figure out how this happened as it doesn't male any sense in any way/

Is there *any* way we can play this together or should I just give up?

Post screenshot of the launcher? You should see a globe bottom right corner to change language setting.

wdym won't let ss? just press f12, it's built-in function of steam and I've been using it to ss a lot of moments, unless you're just trolling.

I mean it works perfectly fine on all my other games but it wouldn't on this one? And I checked the settings and everything and it was still set as a basic function of steam that I use all the time.

Without knowing what part of the game you load into it's hard to help.

Is Steam language set to English? Are you using a VPN? If so turn it off. Also try verifying the game files in Steam.

ok just take photo using your phone, and upload it somewhere like imgur and post here. Surely you're not gonna say you don't have phone, or your phone can't take photo right?

Try deleting everything in the install folder "Documents" which is inside the SMC folder (right click game in Steam > browse local files to find it). This will delete all existing SMC profile data and settings. Then go to Steam and verify files/relaunch game.

I had the same issue. And I have deleted everything in the Documents folder like you said but nothing happens. The game still loads in chinese version and I cant find any globe icon to change the language.

try to repair it in the normal way by clicking the wrench and hammer icon, if this fix the problem good for you, if not, then try these steps :
1. Verifiy integrity of the files
2. Delete all the local files (by following above guy steps)
3. Uninstall and then Re-Install the game
4. Verify integrity of the files, again
5. Launch the game, or you can also try to go to the smc local files and run renderswitch.exe, choose the compatibility mode
Pls try to follow those steps, and tell us if it fixed the problems (by either the language goes back to english, or the icon for language appear)

OK can you open these two files:

steam_language
lang_data

located in Documents folder (path I posted before) and post what they say? They're just text files without any file type extension.

Hey, thank you for all the help. I've tried every single one of your guys suggestions and sadly not a single one worked :(.

So I tried the last one to try to find those language files and well, they aren't there. They're completely missing.

HOLY HELL you're a damn genius. I can at least actually read and understand the language now at least,

Doesn't seem to be letting me play still though :/. When I click on the screen like it instructs nothing happens
