Struggling in the second tutorial
Have you completed the 3 tutorials? I am in the second one against Teutonic Order but enemy cavalry crush me and I can't figure out how to succeed. If anyone knows, please let me know how you did it.

I also found it tough. I ended up with a draw.
I put knights in centre, prussions to the right and left.

Some people have won it by keeping their knights back behind the marsh, putting crossbowmen and Prussians in the Marsh and waiting for the enemy to tie themselves in knots trying to get to their knights.

I was able to succeed on Baron difficulty by having my left flank deal with their side by fighting in the marshes, supported by some skirmishers, while my center (medium infantry also) and right flank (all cavalry) kept the Teutonic cavalry at bay in the narrow gap of open land between the swamp and forest on the right flank (it has a path down the middle). Once my left flank mopped up their right flank, they closed in and the battle ended due to routing 40%+ and i never really had to engage much of their cavalry, just kept them back until i could flank. Its kind of a tough scenario though, so it could go either way too.

yes, on my 1st try knight level. I kept my troops in the marshes with the Knights in reserve in open ground behind. Waited for the attack, used archers to wear them down, reserve infantry to plug the holes, used my Cav on the wings for flank attacks. It was actually close for a long time, but squeaked out a victory.

A lot of elements to keep track of, I will have to replay a few times to get a real feel for this game.

You on default difficulty?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Great guide. Could you add it to the Guide section please?

That's a very interesting gameplay. I had my cavalry on the flanks and this resulted in a completely disaster. Thank you very much, I will definitely try your strategy and try to follow your movements.

Replayed the 2nd tutorial on level 2 and lost, will have to try again. As I see it, use of the terrain, I.e. marsh is key to neutralize the Teutonic Knights. Also important to keep fresh reserves...much as in real life.

Yep - see my review. It took me three attempts and hiding behind the gaps in the swamp to limit how many of their knights can get through was the way to go.

Nice work.

I finally passed this second tutorial twice in the third difficulty level. Is a very challenging one but I think cavalry and archers are the key of success and also putting the right units in the marshes to gain advantage over the enemy units in this terrain. Thank you all for your tips, as I find an important gap in difficulty from the first tutorial to the second tutorial.

Yes, at least for me it was the hardest tutorial. I passed the third tutorial and was easier than the second. To succeed in the third tutorial you need to select archers and prioritize range combat over melee combat. With a good organization and taking care about game rules the third tutorial is long but easy. However, I noticed that archers are less effective later on in the game, causing less casualties. There is something I am missing, I am still reading the manual.
