Key bindings not working on Steam Deck

For example, the keyboard command 'p' toggles pause on and off. When 'p' is bound to a button on the Steam Deck it doesn't do anything. I tried this with a couple other keys and none of them work when bound to buttons on the Steam Deck. Is there a way to fix this?

I play on Linux and this happens to me as well. Alt + Tab out and back into the game again and it should work. I'm not sure how you'd go about doing that on the Steam Deck though, sorry.
