Game is made in Beijing by a PRC company. Anyone see if it phones home?

Someone seems a bit paranoid over here. If you have a problem with the place this game was developed just don't play or buy it instead of posting weird stuff within the forums.
The nameless Gamer 18 ENE 2023 a las 3:49 p. m.
Malwarebytes hasn't found any spyware and the game isn't "phoning home". Google and social media spy on you a LOT more than any other source anyway. Each time I used to run Google Chrome however, Malwarebytes would detect and clear out spyware and adware. So you're looking for spyware on the wrong end.

It's weird you'd just blow it off, considering this stuff made headlines:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/if-you-play-videogames-china-may-be-spying-on-you-11603926979

It's a totally legit question.

It's easy to say don't play or buy, but it's a national security issue, and China based companies are busy buying up game development companies. So it's getting harder to avoid.

I understand your concern, but that's not the case with this game. In reality there is something more serious like the title below (Chinese) which uses a second workshop outside of Steam, in order to access this workshop you have to share personal documents and telephone number, name, surname etc.... The owners of this "workshop" is a third party company and does not belong to the developer of the game, even if the developer is aware since the contents belong to the "game". The personal data of users are sold, especially young and naive users fall into this trap.
This is the type of sub-product that should be reported and removed from Steam.

It's so much more work to install malware in games for access to a really narrow range of people's data, when you can just buy it en masse from Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc

Not a whole lot of data actually. That's why Meta is suing this Israeli security company for creating thousands of fake accounts to scrape data. Some stuff isn't available to purchase, and when you have raw data you can build sentimentality models, etc.

While it does seem like this info might be of narrow use to the Chinese, I doubt that is actually so...

There is lots of malware actually, you should just uninstall it.

Because the game doxxed my information to Xi Jinping himself and he took away all of my fico credit score as he came to my house and deleted the game from my computer while offering me delicious sichuan spicy peanuts before dumping red paint on me.

Like what The nameless Commander said, you're looking on the wrong end for spyware since while the scary headlines are scary, your own government is also pretty much doing the same thing but they won't put out news articles on them doing it. Maybe focus on internal issues before focusing on foreign issues?

(Fyi im not a chinese bot or getting paid lmao, though it would be nice. Just trying to talk sense)

-9999 fico credit score citizen!

The fact that you ignore the mega-list of atrocities in favour of another credit score joke really says a lot while i wasn't even that positive to China in the first place.

It says that I won't fall for your straw man of false equivalency. Maybe post that list on Reddit for more traction.

Just chill out. After all, it's much easier and cheaper to just buy people's data from Apple, Google, Facebook etc than actually program spyware into a video game especially when you have one or two programmers.
Edit: that's how Google and Facebook became multi-billion corporations: by selling their users' data to anyone offering them money for it.

Lol "strawman", the evidence is literally right in front of you (of hacking and spying) and you still refuse to look at it while going "chinese game? It must have spyware!" when there isnt one. If you're so sure go and dig through the game data yourself and give some proof instead of just asking for it.

Go and complain about this game on some jingoistic subreddit instead of trying to bother people who are trying to enjoy the game.

Dont Know, havent really bothered to be that concerned with it, it does connect to two servers and creates a service on your computer for something . one of the servers it connects to is google owned. the other was also in america with a similar ip also probably owned by google, it does not seem to continuously transmit data, but i havent wire sharked it to see what it is sending.

what i do know is.
It did not connect to china
it is not continuously sending data
and i have had no "strange" issues when playing the game, before during or afterward

from what it looks like its just mundane telemetry stuff per normal for many games these days.

Seems like you're the only one who's really bothered by what I have to see. I wonder why 🤔
You've really gone out of your way with posting a big pile of garbage just to try to redirect the conversation. Again, I wonder why. 🤔

Could be that your garbage discussion and refusal to look at basic information to see that this game has any spyware which is shocking. (Interesting at how you're trying to make this about me when it was about spyware in the first place, i wonder why 🤔)

Well, whatever floats your boat! Can't argue with stupid and my point has already been made.

Good luck in your quest to find whatever amount of spyware you can find if you can even find any
