Weapons, I'd actually say yes. They grow with you as you assign more points into the skill system. While the growing weapons are inferior to end-game stuff, they work just fine up until that point. Plus, the Collector edition weapons are visually distinct and different colors to the normal game stuff. Purple sword, green twin blades, orange (or yellow?) greatsword.
Sadly, there's no gun included in the Collector weapons.
The chips you get as part of the Collector pack? mediocre at the start, never used as soon as you get any other Chip. It's the equivalent of getting two free potions at the start of a Pokemon game.
