Which Kingdom Rush Should I Buy?
Dear Steam Community
Hi
I`m new to this series. I've noticed that there are four Kingdom Rush games. My question is that which one should I buy? Should I play all four of them? Is Vengeance enough?
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

There is actually a fairly large difference between the first and last one. I would say the Frontiers or Vengeance would both be good options. The first one is solid but doesn't have all the same features and variety. The maps on the later versions have some fun interactions you can do as well

Buy and play in order of release.
The older games get super cheap when on sale.
If you like the gameplay you'll want to play all of them anyway.

If you want to buy only one - frontiers.
If you plan to buy them all eventually - go with the order of release.

Frontiers would not be my first choice. I just played all of them again, except Vengeance, and so far I liked Frontiers the least. Still fun game, but somehow blah. The very first one is still really good, the design is very tight, it feels as if more thought and time was spent on balancing etc.

start with the first and play them in sequence so you get the lore and story all of them are good but origins is the worst off all

This is the most correct answer, imho.

This is the least correct answer. They are all extremely good, and origins happens to be my favorite.

Each new version has slightly more content but i find also they get harder. Start with the first one.

Vengeance is the easiest and slowest by far. Origins is also quite easy. Froniters and first kr are the most difficult, assuming we count the post-campaign levels too (if not, you're right, first part's campaign is the easiest, but bonus levels are a big difficulty jump).

Swap vengeance with first and I'd agree.

I would play in lore (kinda) order. So, you would go OG Kingdom Rush, Frontiers (the sequel), then origins, (for more lore and prequel knowledge), and then vengence. I would also reccomend Legends if you get invested in the series. A lot of people hate it, but personally, I think it's really good. It's not TD, but still worth a chance. But if your going to buy only one, I would buy frontiers or vengenace, especially with the coming big vegenance DLC.

I would recommend starting from the beginning - so the first Kingdom Rush, named just Kingdom Rush.

Why? A little bit for the story (purchase order isn't really that important for this), but primarily for the change in latter titles regarding how hero level ups are handled. The first game relies on heroes starting at lvl 1 and leveling up ONLY during the time you play a particular stage, whereas in the older titles, your heroes' level ups persist and you get to the point when you have all of them at lvl 10.

And so I recommend you start with the first one, because going backwards to that hero level up system can seem a little weird.

Either way, all of the Kingdom Rush games are worth it.

Buy and play in order of release:

1. Kingdom Rush --> Heroes lvl is always set to 1 for the beginning of every stage and level up from there
2. Kingdom Rush Frontiers --> Heroes now lvl up as some kind of perma-progression
3. Kingdom Rush Origins --> every Hero now offers a unique third active ability
4. Kingdom Rush Vengeance --> every tower type is different (and not only on Tier 4) and there are lots of different towers but you have to choose 5 Towers to bring to every stage

My personal ranking is:

Origins > Frontiers > Vanilla > Vengeance

(but keep in mind these are the 4 best tower defense games I personally know and I just didn't enjoy having only 5 different towers per stage in Vengeance that much. If you could pick 8 Towers - or even better: all of them - it would have been my #1)
