edit: the weakest tower would be the witch tower....funny but pointless
the witch is pretty bad too but the silencing totem has situational usefulness.
there are 2 or 3 stages, where it actually shines! specially the frog stuff....it either kils them right away or they get away with 10-20% health...(edit: add-in the orc blizzard-tower with AoE = fun)
placing them on the inside of sharp bends, to maximise the area of the path covered by their awful range is a must. Its effectiveness decreases on straights so if the map doesnt cater for a tight bend dont bother using it.
Ideally, only invest in the tower only when you have enough money to upgrade it in one go its awful until level 4 and you need to buy the special abilities, especially Roots of Evil and Evil Treants. This is because there must be at least four enemies within range of the tower for its damage to be cost-effective, and the special abilities help to ensure this.
A fully upgraded Rotten Forest creates an extremely strong choke point. , Elite Harassers can be placed behind the tower to fire at trapped enemies, Goblin War Zeppelins can be placed in front of the tower and moved to the back of their rally point range and cover the forest for a very effective synergy.
