Another option which is some work but safer since you won't be over writing your original files is to rename the mod plugin to .zip and then manually copy/move the files into a mod subdirectory tree that matches the original game. Example
COI/Mod
COI/Mod/Data/Base
COI/Mod/Data/Battles
COI/Mod/Data/Ops
COI/Mod/Data/Campaign
COI/Mod//Graphics
COI/Mod/LocalFX
COI/Mod/Maps
Then create a shortcut to start the game but adding a strartup string /D Mod
it's possible to install mods, but it's not very easy.
First step :
Download your mod :
http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/modules.php?name=Downloads&cid=256
Second step :
Dowload Total commander to unzipped file.
https://www.01net.com/telecharger/windows/Utilitaire/gestion_de_fichier/fiches/722.html
Download = Télécharger in french
Third step :
Move every files one by one without mistake...
For the prize, i think the game will be realy remasterized. I bought this game maybe 3 times in 25 years (lost original cd-rom, many move etc...) it is one of my favorite game, i'm totally addict. But Close combat Bloody First was a totaly disappointment, that's another subject ^^
