Game has a 2k pop in JST and pacific time zones
With maybe around 1k to 500 people actually paying for tokens
And a backlog of already planned content so pc team doesn't have to think to hard
Gbo2 has always been a flawed game
With no quality life improvements or improvements to netcode, penaltys
you'll get your EOS announcement maybe around may or april of 2024
If no one is Makeing purchases
With the game is ran so cheaply you'll likely not see it till console reaches it end of its life cyle
Don't say gun evo that game didn't try, It was centered largely around monitzation from the start
The rest comes in February of 2024 every thing else is in the thread I posted
The only thing questionable is the black friday login
They don't deviate from much or at all in the order events what ps gets
Char gelgoog login(can't remeber or find info if ps got this login) , operation star one and a few banners are the only inregular updates we got
The thing we won't get is token pack suits
the game is a mess technically to begin with, down to the controls; I suspect being able to get in match wasn't due to fixes on their end - it was just low number of players in matchmaking.
What nailed the coffin was their "fix" for people abusing clan exp/reward(punished everyone else for it; which is normal for japanese devs who think players are subhuman - their game crash...etc., and players get slapped with penalty).
I wish I was wrong but I suspect they would behave the exact same way if GBO3 ever exists.
Gundam Battle Operation for Steam
2023-2023
This.
Evo's monetization will forever be an excellent study of what NOT to do for a free service game. The devs were only making money off players 1 of 3 ways. The outrageously priced skin packs (around $80 each), the battlepass (which only unlocked a few lazily painted skins and some other goodies), and the new unit every 2 and a half months (which you could get for free by grinding the free part of the battlepass anyways).
Assuming a decent amount of people playing (which was only a few hundred around the final months normally and barely breaking 1k peaks) bought the unit for that season, they only made $20 off that person. For the next 2 and a half months. Even if they wanted to whale, they didn't have much to whale on. There was an exclusive skin gacha each season but there was no 10 roll, pity system, or reasonable way to grind additional rolls for free towards that banner. The only rolls they often gave for free (when they maybe felt generous to give people 2-3) was towards the normal pool without that season's rate up skin. Note that the rate up banner was for the entire duration of the season, so for the next 2 and a half months, you only really got to whale at one banner. And all of this is assuming you even WANT your unit in gold. After all this, the only thing left to spend your Arabian oil baron money on was the $80 skin packs, which the devs could only make money off you once per player.
I think you can see the trend here. There wasn't much to spend on and what there was to spend on was either extremely unexciting or non-recurring. They designed a system in a way where they barely made money off a player almost as if on purpose and then are surprised when they come up in the red at the end of the month. In short, even if you liked Evo, hell, even if you loved Evo with all your heart, they could barely make money off you. Unless you decided to fill up your account with a ton of tokens for absolutely no reason at all other than just as a donation towards the game, there was no reason to spend money after season's opening day, which was only once every 2 and a half months. And that's what killed the game in Bandai's exec room.
GBO2, by comparison, is a waterfall of content each week, having played Evo and THEN GBO2 personally. They have a system in place where the people who really want to spend money CAN spend that money and have a reason to. Immense unit pool, parts, even small stuff like the in-game music tracks if that's your thing. And there's a new reason to open those types of whales' wallets every week with a new banner.
Bit of a long rant, but it's worth understanding. I loved Evo. It's what got me into Gundam. It's also why I've seen over the year of it's life the glaring monetary flaws there that sure aren't present here.
We are making a good estimation, I THINK
It being a f2p game and having trouble finding matches(there are times when even A/B rooms are nonexistent without a few min of searching) is not that different from being dead.
Whether they're making money or not has nothing to do with whether you, the player, experience the suck.
Thank you for proving the point of the exact paragraph you grabbed.
Outside JP/China it's atrocious.
So you proved that you had no point?
