How to get a Rival Victory

I need help understanding how to get a Rival Victory as in what I need to do / what mode I need to play in order to get a Rival Victory. I have already looked this up and from what I have read it doesn't really explain all too clearly how to get one. Any help will be much appreciated :D

i think you are randomly paired with someone and if you get higher rank than him in a match, you get rival victory

tldr: just be the best ezpz

You don't have to kill the rival nor win the match, just need to get higher individual ranking than them.

Here's the short version of what to do for rival wins: play the game better than your selected rival. score hits, get assists, get kills, deal damage, die less- all of these better than that person in your match.

Rival is something that can only happen in Ranked and Casual. The game randomly selects an opponent with the same type as you (General/Support/Raid) who is also close to your rank. You don't know who your rival is until the match is over. And just because their your rival, doesn't mean your their rival.

Not that it matters if you did know who your rival was before that match but you can take a good guess once ranks start to separate a little bit. For instance if you're a D+ and you lobby with only 1 other D+ more than likely that D+ is your rival.

individual score- most points or kill
Damage
High assist kill (let a Allie kill for you dmg enemy's think of it as a passive killing
Pursuit score(stagger enemy that is engaged with a allied suit it will flash light blue in match)
