Damaged MS: Eject or Getting killed?
One mechanic i haven't really explored yet is what to do when my MS is basically a gonner.
So a couple of questions:
A) If i abandon my MS and it gets destroyed, does that still give points to the enemy team?
B) If i abandon my MS and it doesn't get shot down, can i still call in a new, fresh one?
B) Where exactly do i call in suits at the base ship?

yes it gives points if the ms is destroyed, yes you can get a new suit after a cooldown just try to get to the base or a captured point and it should give you a prompt where you hold down F or whatever the button is :)
yea it still give points

you can but if you are far away, it takes forever to get to place where you can spawn one

idk

Definitely deny them the 50 points for killing the pilot if you can without damaging your uptime.
Being out of the fight too long is actually worse than losing 50 points, assuming you're useful to the team.

it seems risky to eject if the mech isn't going to explode.

I got killed as a pilot and couldn't respawn since my suit was still deployed.
took me out of the match for like 60 seconds

The risk of not being able to deploy again until your suit auto destructs is high, especially if someone bails and grabs your suit. You get stuck as infantry so it's actually a really bad move unless you are right next to their base and being on foot is a good thing anyway.

If you are going to plant or similar then yes ejecting isn't a bad idea because you will already lose the suit. At least you have a chance at dropping the bomb but otherwise only do that if you have immediate cover and an objective nearby, else they can just walk around you and turn you to paste, negating the entire point.

Since repairing does pretty much nothing to save your suit what should I even do in this situation? I tend to hang back a lot because of this but it's not really contributing much even if I'm support.

If you are respawning as a Pilot, you can spawn next to your Suit even if it's already deployed unless someone stole it.
So if you planted a Bomb at Enemy base and get killed you can still respawn on your Mobile Suit and save it from being destroyed if it's a 1 v 1

Die.

You are going to die and give them points anyway, reposition yourself and yolo in to turn them or make them dump damage onto you. If you are lucky, you can get a cheeky knockdown, which if you have a team which has maybe a brain cell or two, they might be able to capitalize on. You can also act as bait, as seeing a 50 health suit tends to trigger the MINE MINE MINE MINE reaction in a lot of players, so they can and often will overextend trying to get you.

Basically, accept that you are going to die and make the most of it.

If you are fighting at your base, crouching will cause the base to start repairing your suit while you are in it. This can stack with the repair gun and actually makes it not completely worthless to do it. Running back however is, because the respawn timer is faster than repairing.

There are two match types when this however is actually a bad thing. Ace match and mixup.

If you are the ace, you need to not die as much as possible, so hanging back and repairing is actually the best option you can do if you are about to pop because you are 80% of your teams point value. Mixup, same deal because your suits point cost can mean they can get 2k points if you are a high value suit and they drop you. That and you can have a 40 second respawn time which is pretty nutty.

If you repair at base, like right next to the carrier practically making contact with it, the base will repair your suit in addition to your repair tool. It's much faster than just using a repair tool alone. If you're too far away from base the only time you stop to repair is if your legs are broken

so here is a thing i used to do when it was badly damaged but i made it back, park it in front of your base if its still intact, and grab the support vehicle next to the base, just go out and cause some well timed staggers for oyur team to make use of, and then get killed, by the time you are back your suit should have been auto repaired, and the point gained from killing just pilots is minimal

As Grimclaw said, grabbing the support vehicles can actually keep your team in the fight. didnt think about leaving the suite to repair though. they're slow too though, so only worth it if the fight is near the spawn still. also the cannon platform on some space maps is actually pretty strong if you can get it into a good position.

Ahh okay cool. I figured out the other stuff on my own but this is pretty cool to know in the off chance I want to extend my unit's life more than the repair gun will allow.

When I heard that the suit self destructs after a while I expected that the strat was actually to man a tank and sac the unit or something but I assume that grants the enemy points?

Much like everything in this game, it's highly situational. If you're in a good position to do something as a normal soldier, then eject but otherwise you should just try to get as much damage or kite enemies away/towards your team depending on their suits health. :balloonicorn:

I flee and repair at low hp to prevent points for the enemy
Legion Grimclaw Jun 1, 2023 @ 11:52pm
also the self destruct only triggers after its stolen, and even then it takes a full minute. its better to leave it for auto repairs and run some interference if you desparately want to prevent the enemy from getting points
