Is there anyway that I can remove this from my profile or at least hide the hours, purely asthetic. thx

Yes! Go to Settings > Disable Steam Integration > Restart the app. This will still require you login to Steam to run the app but it'll immediately stop logging hours and your friend activity will remain as before running the app.
