Ukrainian localization
Dear game developer,

I am writing to request that you consider creating a Ukrainian localization for your game. According to various estimates, there are between 41 million to 45 million people worldwide who speak Ukrainian, and it is ranked among the top twenty most widely spoken languages in the world. This means that having a Ukrainian localization could increase the number of players who would like to play your game in their native language.

We in Ukraine are a large and active community of gamers, and having the ability to play your game in Ukrainian would allow us to better enjoy it. Creating a Ukrainian localization could be an important step in attracting new players from Ukraine and other countries where Ukrainian is an official language.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I hope you will take my request into account and consider the possibility of creating a Ukrainian localization for your game.

Sincerely Lykas

The only official languages are Simplified Chinese and English. However, there is a language mod for Dyson Sphere Program.

Get this: https://thunderstore.io/package/ebkr/r2modman/

Then install inside R2ModMan:
BepInEx
DSPTranslationPlugin

Start the game modded through R2ModMan so the mod initializes, then close the game.

Thenafter download the Ukrainian translation_DysonSphereProgram.json from https://crowdin.com/translate/dyson-sphere-program (requires login)

Go into your Dyson Sphere Program installation directory and there, open the DSPGAME_Data directory.

Go into the Translation subdirectory.

Create the directory Ukrainian

Copy the downloaded Ukrainian translation_DysonSphereProgram.json into the created Ukrainian directory.

Start the game through R2ModMan and go into settings, then set the game to Ukrainian language.

NOTE: These translations on Crowdin are an unofficial community project and may be fulfilled only partially. Feel free to participate and improve or to add to the translations.

There are many more people that speak French, German, Spanish etc so the game would be more likely to get localised in those languages first, that said Chinese and English cover about a 3rd of the entire worlds population with around 2.5 billion people speaking either as a first or second language.

I don't think they've any plans to add any more languages officially so currently Ettanin's post is the only solution.

The game is also predominantly numbers which are pretty universal so even a very rudimentary or no understanding of the language isn't a huge barrier to play.

I understand the nature of the request but we need to separate business from international politics.

Business is business, and businesses must fill the most demanded needs first: right now, a localization into French, German and Spanish would be the path to follow (highest combined income & number of speakers). After that, Brazilian/Portuguese would be the next wisest choice, followed by a candidate that I won't mention because it would be disrespectful to you, most probably; then it would be followed by Hindi, Arabic and Bengali (high number of speakers but low income per capita and low rates of gaming). Japanese would also be a wise choice but their demand for this type of game should be taken into account (probably low because PC Gaming is low there).

Only after all these languages and then some would Ukrainian be a wise business choice. If we take into account an important circumstance, the huge amounts of shared speakers between certain languages, we could even further reduce the list to English, Chinese, German, French, Spanish and the unmentionable option, because that combination would cover almost the totality of Earth's population, since those languages are spoken by almost all the speakers of the languages that are left out.

It doesn't matter anymore.
I and other players made a fan translation into Ukrainian.

There is NOTHING political about asking for or producing a translation for a language. Even if that language is used by a country currently in a war. The only way any decision about translating a game is political is if you are doing it or not solely on the politics revolving around the countries that use a language. Asking for a translation into Ukrainian is not political in the slightest and the only way anything like that would be is if the devs decided to release one citing the war directly as a reason to do so or denying a Russian one and doing the same.

Basically stop making everything some kind of political stance and inserting your politics into situations where they do not belong.

I assumed this was a political request in nature due to the fact that it is a widely known fact that Ukrainian it's not a widely spoken language.

In any case, 95% of my post was about economic arguments, I only mentioned the word "politics" once.

I can't play games in my native language, because they will start accusing me that this is politics, and not an honest desire to play a game in a language I understand! Are you adequate?

and as for the fact about the spread of the Ukrainian language, you are a liar.

In 2021, a survey by "Democratic Initiatives" with a different sample showed that 78% of Ukrainians considered Ukrainian their native language.

Why don't you ignore such posts? No, you consider it necessary to write some stupid arguments against Ukrainian localization.

Fortunately, we Ukrainian gamers did the translation ourselves.

That is an absolutely wild and frankly crazy assumption to make. There is nothing political about someone wanting to view content in their own language no matter how small or large its speaking population is. If someone asks the devs to translate the game into Swahili its not a political request. Something like that only becomes political when governments collude to condone or stop it from happening.

I support
that's a good answer.

I am shocked at how toxic the steam community is.
Even when I wrote that the localization issue was resolved, there are still people who are not too lazy to write that the Ukrainian translation has no right to exist, giving completely absurd arguments.

Well you have to remember that there are a lot of schizos out there that hear Ukraine and just SCREECH and desperately grasp at straws to validate their own politics. To be fair both sides are guilty of this but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ one side is so rabid and desperate they have to live in some kind of pseudo reality where everyone is out to get them to feel like they have solid footing. Probably because there is no legitimate reasoning any sane person can come up with to condone whats going on from the people they support. Its pretty damn hard to justify aggression after all.
