Sadness as game leaves xbox game pass

Not many people were probably aware you could play this game for free with an Xbox game pass sub. It's how i've been playing it this entire time. But is now leaving in 2 weeks. I don't blame them. Its a good way to generate some income in the uncertainty of early access of a brand new IP. But the game is clearly successful and likely to continue to be. So makes sense for them not to renew a game pass contract.

I'll have to buy to own now. And it makes more sense to do this on Steam rather then Xbox PC

I'm curious though, is it possible to simply move a save file? It should be right? The file is technically for the same game despite installs from different platforms.

Yes the gamepass for PC save file will load, but you won't get metadata (or IIRC achievements) while playing that save on steam as it will be a save from a different account. (Just like if you'd downloaded someone else's save file)


Thanks for the heads up about it leaving game pass. I'd actually bought it on steam but after it came to gamepass replayed it there because I thought it would be amusing to have the achievements on my xbox profile. :D Now I guess I have to decide whether to quickly to knock out most of the added dark fog achievements over there before it leaves the service.

Yeah, i'm trying to get what achievements i can but doubt ill manage all the ones left. Have 60% of them and a lot of the ones left are not easy at all lol

I guess you'd need to check if the Game Pass version uses these same 2 directories as the Steam version does:
c:\users\[your username]\AppData\LocalLow\Youthcat Studio\Dyson Sphere Program\
c:\users\[your username]\Documents\Dyson Sphere Program\

( c:\steam\steamapps\common\Dyson Sphere Program\ seems to be just the game with zero config/user stuff, so nothing to transfer over from a game pass version.)

That sucks, I was looking forward to playing the vehicle update when it finally came out.
Now I need to decide whether I wanna buy a game I've already played for over 150 hours.

The directories shouldn't matter, only the save files. The save files should be the same between the two platforms.
