Aim of the game and future development
Supposedly a player's ultimate mission is to supply vast amounts of power to Centrebrain, or the civilization's home world. At present, there is no way to do that, is there? We just accumulate huge stores of antimatter fuel rods that we have no use for. At least I do. Would you suppose that the complete game will enable this to be accomplished, perhaps rewarded with meta-data? Of course, if we develop nearly every industry to the point that supports conversion of all surplus photons to research, that would be a way to use them, but it still doesn't fulfill the mission. I like the meta-data idea better because it could facilitate future play-throughs or serve as a cushion to get us out of a jam.

Another lore-type curiosity: The description of Mariterra planet type on which we first land mentions the possibility of its already being inhabited by another civilization that might be persuaded to co-operate with us. This could be a reference to the Dark Fog, although they will "co-operate" only unwillingly by being farmed, and they are likely to be found on any type of planet. Alternatively, do you suppose that this possibility, which could introduce aspects of diplomacy or trade, might be somewhere in the devs' plans?

I am not sure its power that centrebrain wants. Its information in the form of Universe Matricies.

You do not even need to make a Dyson Sphere to "win" the game. Just making 4000 white cubes triggers the congratulations message.

Interesting, would be quite simple (I imagine) to have a scoreboard of who has sent the most energy back to Centrebrain, probably opens up/encourages unnecessary abuse of processing power though. Maybe make it a ratio of energy sent divided by buildings used, to make it about efficiency? Not sure how it would work with degrading deposits, but it would definitely give an interesting lore-based reason to keep playing, like you say.

There is a scoreboard. Its called Milky Way and it records everyone's power generation.

Oh sorry, that's what I was referencing, but I thought it only did metadata (never really looked into it). Your idea about white science would be interesting, and do a similar role in terms of giving you a late game aim.

I really would like to see some more mega structures based around planets. Gas giants need to have more strategy/involvement than just slapping down 50 orbital collectors, and it would be badass to funnel 20Gj into cracking a planet open like in deadspace

As far as giving power to Centrebrain, there's an implication that we're already doing that, somewhat. Ie most of the energy produced from stuff goes there by default, while we keep the fraction left to keep things running.

^Which would explain why a Dyson Sphere's output is in the GW/TWs, when it should be a billion times higher, realistically speaking.
