There are mods for multiplayer, but don't have much experience since most of my friends do not play this game.

build one billion dyson sphere while we are harassed by tyranid, reaper ^_^
Stop asking for MP in single player games.
We have a small team of friends occasionally playing the survival-build games in coop; played ARK, Factorio, Factorio: Space Exploration, some other smaller games for thousands of hours total. Have been eyeing DSP for quite some time; and of course we know about Nebula mod, but some of our teammates are running the games under GeForce Now, so external mods (which are not even running through the Steam Workshop) are out of option.
I would expect that on the day DSP launches multiplayer, each one of us will buy a copy of the game. For now, I don't think anyone has purchased and played it yet – we typically have too little free time to play just the single-player games, because the multiplayer PvE ones provide both the gameplay and a good socializing opportunity.
Same here.
Yesterday 6 of us played 7 days to die together, other times we have had 5 of us playing Satisfactory. However since it is single player only nobody else in that group will buy a copy so that is lost sales and we must seek different games to play when everyone is online.
Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“Our plans are for this EA stage to be about 1 year long. But that is not written in stone: we will be open to our players’ feedback and ideas from the beginning, so that period can be expanded to meet their expectations until the game is ready for its full release.”
Game was released January 2021.
That said they have no plans for mp and honestly not every game needs it and many that do introduce it usually have poorer single player experiences as a consequence.
I hope this stays single player, there are already plenty of mp games in the same vein.
7 days to die, and many other games have stayed in EA for years. As long as the devs are working on the game and showing progress it does not matter how long they stay in EA.
Stop making single player only games. 1. There are more people who play co-op then solo. 2. There is more replayability in a co-op game then in a single player game, which means it will be played longer and have more enjoyment. 3. Profit. Almost every game made is looking for them sell numbers and profit. In a co-op game not only will out always out sell a single player game but even down the line in sales will you make even more. There really shouldn't be any reason for single player only games. Unless you have an amazing story to tell that jist is not possible in co-op, but even then games like dark pictures anthology can do it, so something like days gone 2 or death stranding 2 would be award winning co-op games. This game is no exception. The only reason me and my friends don't have this game is because there is no co-op. If they added we would all buy it, hell I would buy it and gift it to them.
In fact, due to some issues, working on the combat system prevented them from updating the game at large until they released what we got. This was detailed in various dev blogs last year, visible on the store page.
Sorry, but most of that is just not true. There is a huge market for single player games, moreso than multi player with notable exceptions like CoD and MMORPGs like WoW.
Multiplayer adds a layer of complexity that some devs just don't have the infrastructure/knowledge/appetite/resources for and trying to add it would result in a poor experience all round or no game at all.
Not every game needs multiplayer, there is a market and many reasons for single player only games.
