sci-fi planet naming convention
The naming of planet is "wrong" as for current accepted sci-fi convention.
If a star is named Somestar, its planet are usually Somestar I, Somestar II, Somestar III.
If a planet has moons (let's say Somestar II) they are named Somestar II-A, Somestar II-B, etc... A further subdivision for satellites of moons, is something like Somestar II-B-1, Somestar II-B-2, and so on...

Maybe they use a different naming convention in China, where the devs are from?
Also, what does it matter, if its II-A or III?

I must admit, I did expect the moon of my gas giant Somestar III to be named Somestar III A, but once I realised that it was named Somestar IV, it didn't bother me that much.

There is no standard for naming planets in Sci Fi though.

Isn't this actually the way astronomers name things and sci-fi just often uses it too?

The problem is, the game engine probably doesn't see the planets like we do, but only as a list and it makes that list alphabetically. Which is why we get a 1, 2 3 4 etc.. not this is a moon therefore needs an A affix and this is a rogue asteroid and needs a .. whatever that is affix.

there is no sci-fi planet naming convention.
As an example, let's just take stargate where they use the letter P followed by numbers based on binary codes assigned by the stargate command.
I remember when Pluto was a planet, Apatosaurus was Brontosaurus, and Bruce Jenner was a man. If they can memoryhole Ellen Page's name from all her credits, who's to say they won't do the same with your problematic views on naming conventions in this future?

It's a localization issue. They'll get around to it before release.

Could be worse.. they could name them all in mandarin and I'd need to learn an ninth language to speak badly.

In fact i used inverted commas in "wrong".
It's not really wrong, as it's just fiction, but it helps in navigating thru space adn adds more variety.

In fact I speak of an accepted naming convention. No standards brought up

Maybe. I think so too, but since I don't really know, I didn't say it that way.

Other games generate random lists of planets and use the style I proposed. So this game can too.

Plut is still a planet, no matter how one would like to call it. :)
