Oil and plastic are way too slow imo
Seriously, it takes so incredibly long to process oil. My demand for plastic right now is 400 pm, so I built what I consider to be a sizeable (28) array of refineries and enough chemical plants to consume all the oil produced by them and I still only come up with 300 plastic. Is it really necessary for it to be this slow?

Oil rapidly becomes fairly redundant once you go exploring and get access to sulphuric acid oceans, organic crystal deposits and gas giant collectors. Only need a tiny amount later for plastic for particle broad band, but I've only got 8 refiners going at the moment to support 2/sec research.

You also have more resources the further away from home you go, so while the oil seeps on your homeworld might be 1.5/s, when you travel across the sector, you might end up with seeps at 10/s each.

If it is to slow, build MOAR facilities.
Think BIG.
And if you think BIG, think BIGGER!

Yup, usual factory game philosophy is build what you think is enough, then double it. Then do it again :)

As was said above, the late game resource collection process changes and you'll be able to use all your oil for plastic instead.

Plastic is expensive from oil but ridiculous cheap from acid pumps

Plastic is refined oil and grafine... You must be thinking of one of the other oil recipes.
Euclidite Feb 15, 2021 @ 3:50pm
To produce 400 plastic per minute will take 20 chemical plants. This will consume the refined oil of 26.7 refineries, so it sounds like you should have enough. You'll also need to provide them with 400 energetic graphite per minute (13.4 smelters worth, assuming you're getting it from coal).

Assuming you have all of that, are they all being fed from one refined oil belt? If so, and that belt is less than level 3, you won't have enough throughput to feed all of the machines.

The calculator at https://factoriolab.github.io/list?s=dsp can help planning requirements if you don't use it already.

I am going to add to what Euclidite said.

Be sure to have enough Hydrogen demand to keep up with 27 refineries at least otherwise hydrogen can back up and block heavy oil production.

Yea my bad

But refined oil eats lot for acid

Alright so I actually confused supply and demand. The demand was 300 and supply 400 but my machines that require plastic as ingredients weren't getting enough plastic anyway... Also I don't understand how acid is supposed to help me produce plastic. I'm not playing right now but I checked yesterday and i didn't see any recipe for plastic that involves acid. Is there other recipe for plastic that I missed completely?

Also someone mentioned hydrogen and i am burning all of it off, so it's not clogging up the production.

No, acid is for titanium ingot. I don't know why you'll need that many plastics. The only thing that needs that many is yellow matrix (titanium crystal), purple matrix (particle broadband), and green matrix (casimir crystal). I only have 8 chemical facilities pumping out those organic crystals and another 4 of the plastics production. Even then the refined oil is stacking by the thousands that I have to XRay crack them.

How use acid pumps to produce plastic?
Operation40 Feb 16, 2021 @ 6:05am
push through to warpers..

you'll find:
organic crystal veins (can all remove those factories, which greatly relieves plastic demand)
sulfuric oceans (relieves oil demand)
fire ice (relieves sulfur acid demand)

so.. don't scale up.. just push through your tech tree to warpers, imo

Go find a planet with the attribute ocean -> sulfuric acids instead of water or lava. Then put down pumps and produce sulfuric acid for days and export it.

I personally haven't seen one myself yet but it would free up your heavy oil from refineries and stone miners to be redirect somewhere else.
