I want lighting!
I want to place spotlight/stadium lights in places so I can see my factory in the dark.

Belts have LEDs , thats should fit :P
But yeah. some light would be nice.

Even with their little lights on the belts, its still difficult to upgrade belts in the dark. Plus its hard to see the items moving on the belts.

Upgrading should not be the problem with the new upgrade feature.
Be sure to press shift, when upgrading belts.

It would be helpful if the robot's lighting radius was about double what it is.

I kind of like this idea.

Stellar Mirror

Redirects sunlight so that it lights up a part of planet that sits in the darkness.

Done!

Actually I have more difficulty trying to upgrade the correct belts in the dark with the new upgrade button than I did when simply deleting and redrawing. Its get especially hairy when trying to work around multi layers of belts. Also, you don't have to hold shift.

Honestly I think the easiest solution is if there was light at the mouse pointer. Maybe make it a toggle or something, or automatic activation based on shadow strength.

That would be nice but it wouldn't be the same as simply illuminating whole areas of the planet.

You do realize that it would require building basically a Dyson swarm on one side of the planet right? And you need to build stuff for that. We need light when we're building things, it kinda defeats the point to have us build things in order to be able to SEE stuff.

Also I'm not sure there's Lagrange points in this game, so there's that too. Also if they introduce planetary satellites how would that work then? Also if you have a Giant with 2 planetary sats then what?

Seems like a PITA just to get some damn light for placing a conveyor belt. The grid helps but really a little flashlight on the mouse on demand goes a long way. Look at Black and White (it's an old ass game), it was really useful there at night time.

That wouldn't make sense, though. The lighting currently in the game is all attached to in-world objects. The mouse pointer doesn't actually exist in-world.

Tie that to an upgraded power pole! Would look awesome!

Light is mostly needed at the mouse pointer. It makes total sense. Convenience sometimes overrides reality in games, for a good reason.

Keyword: sometimes. This is not one of those times.

Light at the pointer in a building game. Please explain why this is not one of those times.
