everything you do needs energy
you can target with "W" and need to adjust course while you're traveling
to target where you want to go line the little square up with a star and press W to follow the square then engage warp.
its not really rude tho.
game tells you that everything the robot does needs energy...before you warp, you burn through a lot of fuel and you flew around a lot.
if someone is still not getting it...well...
Easy as pie to unlock mech warp but i need anitmatter fuel to get anywhere ?
Doesn't make any sense
But i should just cheat and reload my save, ♥♥♥♥ that
Id rather be toxic AF and leave it playing
I got with 1 GJ to a star 3,5 LJ away, with a rest of 5%.
And have taken enough solar panels, wind turbines and burners to reload my energy faster than with the hydrogen fuelcells I took with me.
of course, I couldn't get very far at first, about 5 light years was my maximum distance on a full tank. But after several upgrades (and sure, better fuel does help a little), I can warp about 30 light years in one go now.
The biggest thing you need is a full tank before you hit that capslock key, and then fuel and time to recharge afterwards.
Well you have 2 options. Slowly regen your energy and warp back home. If you don't have fuel, try and reload. if not there are several 3-rd party "programs" that can grant you infinite energy to get back home.
Second option (if you have fuel and can do research easily) upgrade not only your Core, but your Regen (more important IMHO).
I made the same mistake, but I do have some tips:
First, have lots of the best fuel you can make onboard, like a full chamber and 6-8 extra stacks for working at your destination and the trip back.
Second, before you warp, use SHIFT to be at max speed before hitting the warp key. The game remembers that you were at 2k m/s before warping and when you drop out of warp will retain that speed.
Third, hit TAB to unlock the courser. You cam move the mouse around and not change direction (which takes fuel) and can find your target. Hover over the target and you can actually pin the target so it ALWAYS shows on your display, and will crate a NAV pointer that you can track on the edges of your screen.
Lastly, use the middle mouse button to point the little square FIRMLY at your target. Press W for about 1 second to make sure you are traveling in the direction, and start warp. it's MUCH more efficient to make tiny course corrections during warp than try to make a drastic change. If you have at least lvl 4 core and regen, you can go about 6-7 light years on a charge, and if using Deuteron fuel rods, take about 4-5 minutes to recharge. At that stage of the game, I would warp, and go make a drink, then during the recharge, browse the forums or something. As soon as you get core/recharge lvl 6, warping doesn't become an issue, even with Deuteron fuel. I can jump about 15 LY with a steady hand in 1 go.
Remember in space if you are not touching any movement keys, even at warp, you will regen fuel. At warp, you obviously use more than regen, but if you follow the steps above and have a full charge, are at max speed and don't move much, you will maximize your jumps.
Hope it helps.
Yep. And if you have a very large seed, just to illistraite how end game looks, I have Antimatter, core/regen lvl 9 and am currently ~80 LY from home on 1/3 a charge left and still in warp. I'm guessing my range is about 100-125 LY one way.
Edit: you need 33 minutes for one ly at 1000 m/s
Correction range was closer to 140 LY. I bugged out and never dropped out of warp, lol.
It is indeed rude to presume that everybody knew that warping was going to be energy-expensive beforehand.
It is almost the same problem when you first launch into space to get titanium. Almost everybody had some problem or another with not having enough energy to burn in reactor or running out too fast. But scaled up way more for warping.
I haven't gotten far in yet to do a warp but I have gotten far in before to unlock logistic between planets in solar system.
Just the other day, I had trouble engaging sail mode that I had to land not once but three times to recharge my reactor from the local power network. Which is a game play design issue that the DSP team need to address at some point.
