Dark Fog's a lot of fun- but definitely needs work
I know they're still working on combat tactics in space, but another angle of this enemy system that's killing me is communication from the game on what's going on, what the enemy is doing.

I just got done destroying 4 new hives, one after the other, only to see a 5th pop up out of nowhere. It'ls like Destiny has decided that there WILL be a new DF base in a system I'd previously kicked them out of. I know what the seeds out in space are, they weren't coming from a seed. I know you can miss a component of an old base, it wasn't that either. Some sort of vessel(s) that I can see on the system map but not track kept coming literally out of nowhere, and starting them up, within 60 RL seconds of me having killed the last one.

I've also seen relays establishing themselves in systems where I've destroyed the hives. They come from nowhere, and return to nowhere after I've destroyed whatever they try to set up. They can be destroyed while in orbit, but are invulnerable in space.

I'd really like to see some kind of information system at the strategic level. Make it a tech to research, that'd be fine. But I want a way to KNOW if a hive is establishing in a system I control, or if there's a seed inbound to a system I'm working in. A lot of what the enemy is doing seems like it's just rabbits out of a hat. There's no way to analyze, predict, or head off whatever it is they're doing. They're like termites that keep popping up in my foundations.

Agreed on all points, it really does seem like they're just appearing out of nowhere sometimes.

Might be worth sticking this in the "dark fog needs a rework" thread as some good ideas in there too.

Might also be worth posting to the discord as the devs don't/cant engage here.

The discord seems pretty dead. Am I looking in the wrong place? This seems like more of a message board post than a chat post. Am I missing something?

I have played this game for over 100 hours now. I just travel to another star system via Warp. I didn't do anything to the Space Hive in my starting star system. I just put up a planetary shield and drive all Relay stations away.

The new star system didn't have Dark Fog. However, I noticed one Seed travel to my star system where I tried to establish a new base. It is still far away (about 14 lightyears away), but I would like a building or satellite that rings an alarm the moment it detects a Seed entering the star system.

Also, the stealthy of the Dark Fog is kind of well-known to me. In the starting system, I was trying to build the planetary shield on the last planet. I do have about 10 of the planetary shields with me, but I notice that it tries to build the planetary base 2 times in 30 minutes. The first one I noticed because the relay station flying above my head so I followed it and destroyed the base without issue. The second one, I noticed after I built all of the planetary shields. It tried to build the plasma turret but I did destroy it just before it was complete.

I was playing normal Dark Fog. I didn't know it could establish the planetary bases that quickly.

The discord seems fairly busy to me, though that's mostly restricted to a few channels. The devs are in China so cannot really use steam at all. There is a game-suggestions thread over there that they read.

Thanks. I'll try that thread.
