"Unlock" mouse from the game window?
Is there a way to not have my mouse cursor locked inside the game window?
I got 2 screens and would like to have an easier time to access the other screen and do stuff on that screen without having to tab/open start menu to release the mouse

Sadly, so far the only way to get around it is if you uncheck "fullscreen" in the settings...which then makes it windowed mode, but then that's ugly (obvs). Maybe they'll add something eventually, wouldn't difficult. Submit it in their Discord or something maybe? I'm not entirely sure where else you'd be able to put in a feature request.

Ill check windowed mode out and see if it fits me better, as long as mouse cursor can be moved off game windows easilly.

Meh, wish there was a setting for a borderless game window, since the window decoration and screen size settings in the game makes the game window disappear below the screen (just slightly, but still annoying)

Found that you can enter -popupwindow in launch options in the games properties, and it seems with unchecked fullscreen, the game window covers the whole screen, no window decoration and mouse can move freely between screens, just like i wished.

The way I do (at least on my system it works) is I hold Alt and tap Tab (while I continue holding Alt) I can move mouse to other screen and click mouse into into it which releases the mouse from the game window (and can release Alt).

Game remains full screen. (this is done without -popupwindow option) Gotten so used to it this way I no longer think about it when I need my other screens.

i usually have to use win-key to open the start menu to release the curor, to close current video im watching and switch to the next time, but very often the game re-takes focus and i have to re-do the win-key several times until i've switched video.

Just realized I said Shift, I meant Alt (corrected previous post) - that's how brainless it has become for me LOL I literally just do and have no idea :D

Anyhow, glad you have a solution but if you try Alt + Tab method, let me know if it is any better should you run into issues using the -popupwindow command line.

That's how I do it too and haven't run into any issues with it

My wife had this same issue but I didn’t and our PC builds are exactly the same. What I found to be the fix was I reset the launch option to ask when starting the game. She had selected to always use the selection for “Play New World Aeternum” because she didn’t want to use the DX12 beta. I hadn’t done this yet and my mouse wasn’t locked to the game window. After the reset neither is hers.

I have it running fullscreen in one window, and it stays running (maximised) when I do things on the other screen.

My settings are:
Fullscreen = unticked
Pause when running in background = unticked
In the Steam additional launch settings box, I have -popupwindow

This worked for me. 👍

Devs, this should just be a setting please.
This was the absolute first thing I had to do after installing the game. And having to Google a fix and find this forum was not a good starting experience.
