Waterworld/Aquatica?
I've been looking for a waterworld for the Determination achievement in my current game but I've been unable to find one. Is it possible to not get one at all? Through some bad luck?

I guess I could just be unlucky and just barely miss it.

First so did I simply look through all systems and check manually. But that started to get time consuming so I have been trying to find it by looking at systems and checking for Stalagmite Crystals and Crude Oils as Waterworlds are supposed to have both of those in abundance with no luck.

I really wish there was a way to simply scan/ctrl f for planet types or something.

How many stars did you allow in your seed?

I guess it's possible to find a seed without at least 1 waterworld, although I think it's pretty rare. I'm not 1--% certain if it is actually possible.

I think there is at least one or two waterworlds if you have 64 stars...

It's a standard seed. 64 stars/systems.

I did find one once, and it was a source for something valuable (don't remember what, probably Spiniform crystal). You need to use foundation rather generously to mine and export the resources, because they are initially underwater. I didn't know at the time that you can soon place wind turbines over water. Had I known that, it would have been less work and even a rather easy source of power in addition to resources.

To answer your question, yes, water worlds can be found, although they are not common.

That would be nice. At least you can get technology to scan them from a distance, they could have made it so you have to fly to every star to see what's there.

The question isn't whether they can be found, but rather, whether it's possible that a standard 64-star seed game can have 0 waterworlds through bad luck, which is what seems to be happening to me.

I've been thoroughly checking all potential stars for it and come up nil. The game is even teasing me by bugging out.

If you look at the screenshot, it says "Building area: 0%", so I thought it might be a waterworld with literally 100% ocean. I thought there might have been a bug that categorized it as a Tropicana instead of Waterworld/Aquatica by mistake.

But when I actually got to the planet the index info fixed itself to 60%

Any chance you can give Seed? i really want to check out if there is actually a non waterworld one
Narha Jan 13, 2024 @ 2:47pm
The seed is the number under "Star Cluster", right?
35949700-64-z10-10

If you do find a waterworld, please tell me!

Yup 35949700 is the seed. 64 is number of stars. Z10 is combat enabled at 1.0 resource multiplier and last 10 is dark fog setting (default). If the number after 64 is Axx then it’s combat disabled with the resource multiplier

You seem to be correct. i went in sandbox mode and couldnt find a single aquaworld anywhere. or its new name w.e it is.

Thank you for clarifying for me, it's nice to know that it's not just me missing the waterworld/aquatica.

There are no water worlds in that seed. There is a mod called DSP_Star_Sector_Resource_spreadsheet_Generator that adds a button in game, which when clicked will generate a CSV file that can be opened in Excel or Google Sheets etc and shows detailed information for every planet and star in the seed including planet type and planet special (whether it's tidally locked for example) along with resource amounts. Pretty handy for quickly checking out a seed to see if it has got what you want.

Am i right to assume you have to be in sandbox mode to use that? Otherwise you cannot see things like the info you describe, depending on your Universe Exploration upgrade

Nope works in all modes, the mod doesn't trip the unusual runtime check either so doesn't affect achievements.

The values for the planets and stars are all there from the start they're just hidden from the UI, the mod can read the underlying data so universe exploration is not needed.

You can literally start a brand new game and as soon as you gain control, click the mod button and 20 seconds later have the output containing every bit of info about the seed.

I love that idea!
