Turrets and Tourette's pronunciation.

OK this is serious.

I used to work in mental health care so I am not joking when I say the AI pronunciation of turrets is wrong no matter what dialect of English you speak.

Currently it is saying sounds like Tourette's, because the stress is being placed on the second syllable vowel (e), and it should be the first syllable (u) for turret.

Whether you are from USA, UK, Canada or Australia this is not the right way to say turret.

Tourette's is a neuro-behavioural condition which creates a tic whereby the patient makes involuntary movements and verbal outbursts, often forbidden swear words!

I doubt it sounds like "Tourette" as it is a french name, and the "r" is really different in english.

tu.ʁɛt = Tourette

tʌrɪt = Turret

I dont think you can hear the sound ʁ in english (maybe wrong as it is not my native language).

English tend to say the word "Tourette" as tʊəˈret

It was so jarring to hear, there are a couple of very minor pronunciation errors in the VO but that was really out there. I have no idea how it could be so wrong but get the rest of the English so good.

No it's not. I noticed this as well and it is a small translation/VO error. Nothing game breaking, nothing relevant for more than a few seconds. This is something you can fix when you do QA for the final release. Don't forget this is an EA game, it's great that there is VO at all.

The VO isn't computer generated right? It was an actual English speaker saying a completely different word.

I have mental Illness also, though i noticed it, its more amusing then anything. We must remember that not everything is a personal attack or vendetta against something we believe and or think and not everything we think and or believe, is right. We dont need to turn everything into some kinda of witch hunt, that happens enough in this world and it would be all to easy for this post to spiral out of control and or context which then leads to things getting shut down...then we all loose, for what? pride? its ok to want to defence justice, but this isnt an attack on that, this is a game made by a few people that we made the decision to buy. end of the day, its not anything thats going to overly impact ones life and anyone with mental illness and is on the path to truly understanding it, will not be offended by this.

Either way the narrator is badly AI generated. Honestly i think that has its own charm really considering the setting. Its not like anything put into the game is done out of malice.

Is it AI? Those lazy content creators on YouTube need to pay the extra $5 to get the human sounding voice then. I thought this was a real guy working in the office.
