Can we use Core Driller ourselves?

After you destroy Dark Fog ground base there is a hole left. And this hole has a confusing line in the description:
"...Maybe COSMO wouldn't mind if we just use the lava's heat."
My question is: can we actually?
Should I close the hole or leave it be until I'm somehow be able to use it myself?

Have you tried putting a geothermal generator in the space? I've never blown one up so I don't know

you can place geothermal power station on it, it will give you 300% yield (at least on starting planet)

330% for me (or about 15MW).

The bonus ranges from 280% all the way up to 460% in my testing. It could be somewhat random, but I believe there may be a component related to how entrenched the base is upon destruction.

I have been trying to do this. The buildings are fully destroyed, Units are wiped _ I get instructions for how to fill the hole (238 Foundations & a lot of soil). But when i try to place a thermal generator over the hole - I get the error "Collide with another Object".

And yes, every so often, another base is formed by the relay in space - and my missles blow it up again!

I would really like to have a better power station over this hole - rather than fill it up.

Any tips would be appreciated.

You should be using a Geothermal Power Station, not just a thermal gen.

The output of the power plant depends on the level of the base. I think a level 30 one will give you 550 or 600%.

And after you plant the thermal power plant, put a shield generator right next to it. I do that whenever I am moving onto a new planet. Kick them off and block them from coming back!
