One of the first things you can research is a gun turret to help defend your base, and auto rebuild facilities if one of your facilities gets destroyed.
If you are playing on an older save game set from before the update, you can chill as you have nothing to worry about since, to have the Dark Fog enemies, you have to begin from a new game.
As @geo stated, Icarus comes with some standard weapons and will automatically engage the enemies when he is within range -- the first wave, which probably will occur before you have researched turrets, has only three enemy drones but they are not that difficult to eliminate. Any damage that they do to your production facilities can be repaired / replaced by your drones.
Like other technologies and upgrades, there are many that are specific for offensive and defensive capabilities both for Icarus and your facilities.
But aren't you all knowing?
This is the info I came here for. Thanks.
The bad news is that just triggers the threat meter on the space hive instead.
Well, next time, dont... uh... do that then. (Damn that sucks, sorry.)
Ok, so here's where I am. I like the game a bunch and have played a good bit. But I don't want to keep eating the cake a bite per year. Should I let it cook a bit more for the next bite or take another now?
Ooooh, I am so like you. I stopped playing satisfactory because of that. I'd say check it out, its got enough changes in it to change your entire gaming experience of DSP, especially if you've already completed it.
