Please find a fluent English speaker to translate the in game speech. The robot voice is fine, but the script is just awful.

The game's speech is intelligble. The game can be played and understood with what is present. The dev team is no larger than 4-6 people last I checked. This would be an absolute waste of monetary resources and manpower with their current operating capacity, and at this point in the game's dev cycle.

This is something to come back around to on the polish stages when preparing to leave EA; when they're done adding full-on game systems. Can brush up the script all at once as a packaged project at that point.

They're a small team from China, making a game. If the English is rough during EARLY ACCESS, but the game-play is being improved, it's not a big deal.

Basically the English is easily enough to understand, unless you might have a learning disability. For example some people, it's rarer can't read or understand people with poor grammar, because of their disability. So I can see where the OP is coming from.

I kinda like it, my headcanon is that the group sending the robot is so advanced that they don't have sufficient archives of English as she is spoke, and are translating the instructions without any way to check them.

The game has sold very well so I'm sure they could afford to hire a proper translator. Then again the current translation has a certain charm. :)

Regardless, attitudes like the OPs are completely unnecessary for such a trivial issue in an early access game made by 5 people.

Localization is usually the responsibility of the publisher, from what I know. That being Gamera Games, they should have enough money to hire someone who can localize the texts. But imho, it would be a waste of money to invest that money before the game leaves Early Access.
But also, with the publisher being Gamera Games and after playing other games they published, I'm not confident they actually put much effort into proper localization. They're pretty much a "yellow flag" publisher for me, where a game they publish needs to have really good reviews before I consider buying it.

Isn't this literally what Early Access is for? The English doesn't bother me at all, in fact I find it quite charming, but this is feedback about something the devs likely wouldn't have noticed on their own.

Hard not to see this feedback as just plain racism. What we experience playing DSP in terms of translations is undoubtedly what Chinese players experience with almost every mainstream game that is translated from English into Chinese.

The current state of the translations is absolutely intelligible by anyone with a shred of intelligence...

It's worse than you think, not only are Chinese translations most often poor, even unintelligible - the fonts chosen are typically not great either. Sometimes even difficult to read. English-language gamers are lucky to be able to play pretty much anything and understand it properly.

That being said, with the Dark Fog update, I am quite enjoying the new defensive weapon emplacement that yells profanities at all of our enemies... :-p
