Three slots only take certain item

I now have three slots in my inventory that are dedicated to one type of item only (see screenshot) . It was none, than one, than two, now three.! I 'm relatively new to the game so maybe I hit a key unwittingly. Is there a way to clear these slots so they can store anything?

My bad. I should have searched. Middle clicking will toggle the slot being dedicated. For me it was clicking on the scroll wheel. This game has a bit of a leaning curve - but that's good for me.

Good to know, I locked one accidentally but didn't figure out how I'd done it.

I believe this was a new feature included in the Dark Fog update.

no it got added with the logistic bots, so theres always 1 slot for this item in your onventory which you request from the depot, with other words, its been a loooooooooooong time in the game x3.

Nope - that's not what is being discussed here.
You're talking about the logistics sidebar got added to Icarus inventory back then.

But they were talking about the new feature "Added item filters for Icarus Inventory slots and Depot slots." included in the Patch 0.10.28.20729 - December 15th, 2023. This new filter is accessed by middle clicking on an inventory square in Icarus, a storage box, or a battle base. If there was already an item in the square then the filter is set to that item type (and the square will get a subtle highlighting to show that it has a filter set). If the square was empty then a item selection menu will pop up allowing you to select the desired filter for that square (and then the empty square will have a faint faded icon of the filter type in it -- so only items of that type will be able to go into that square.

In either case right clicking a filtered square will clear the reservation on that inventory space. (And battle bases have extra buttons below their inventory to allow bulk setting or clearing or storage filters)
