I hate dark fog.
I hate dark fog.
I would start the game over from scratch but this update is terrible, it's annoying and poorly implemented.

My opinion is different. I enjoy the dark fog. Gives the universe a bit more life. There are plenty of settings to tweak to talor them as you see fit. But this is also comping from someone who’s played on the scarce settings as well for challenges

You are poorly implemented.

I think what he is saying he is already invested in a run and doesn't want to start over to turn the dark fog off. I'm kinda in the same boat atm. The dark fog is cool and I like the idea but the fact that you can never permanently get rid of them is getting very annoying. I destroy the base and fill in the hole with foundations and they just plop down another one elsewhere. its endless and turns what could be a fun "i did it!" moment into just an annoyance. So yeah in its current state it's just simply better to start a run with it off till they flesh it out a bit more.

Couldnt disagree more, its incrediblely well implemented, playing with darkfog cranked up to 11, changes the game completely, if you play with it on normal settings its irrelevant really, crank up the difficulty and see if you can survive :) so fun.

destroy the hive in space and you have for quiet a long time your peace. just be prepared for when they strike back when they settle back down.

the dark fog will leave you MOSTLY alone and only the base on the planet bothers you UNTIL you straight up destroy said base on the planet.
the description on the base says literarly that if you dare to destroy one of them declare you LITERARLY STRAIGHT UP WAR against the hive in space. so, if you destroy the base on your planet too early will you suffer the consequences if you are not ready.

with other words, just leave the bases on the planets alone and stay defensive until you are fully prepared.

Strongly disagree on this one. If you don't destroy the base, the swarm keeps leveling up until it overwhelms you. If you take out the base (not the relay) as soon as it lands, that minimizes the retaliation ticker. The best strategy it to just let them have a single planet, until part II of the combat update comes out, and drive them off the others.

and then the hive wipes you off the planet. the planet base enemies are easy. am over 50 hours in and their attacks are a joke vs the 3 hour game where i made the mistake and destroyed the base and the hive just destroyed everything.

i dont care about if you disagree or not. fact is, the description tells you that if you destroy a base declare you war against the hive and will be fully aware of you and you make the game incredibly harder for yourself. jusr build a few offensive guns around the base with auto repair and supply and you will have never ANY issues aslong the supply for repair and ammonition keeps rolling.

you can install the "New Game Plus" mod: https://dsp.thunderstore.io/package/appuns/DSPNewGamePlus/

it will save items in your pocket and research progress. then start a new game and load in those items and progress. although I have not tested it on Dark Swarm update,
