While still an EA title where they can adjust our end goals, and all that stuff, it's more like the the start of the endgame. Which can last however long the player wants it to last, whether that's ended immediately after you reach said endgame goal, or ended after your game time became 100x longer (or anything in-between).
Often released games are in much worse shape.
I guess I'll assume for that I need to research all other techs first. And build dyson sphere.
It's about dyson sphere this game after all.
I made my point perfectly clear. Read again ;)
Researching level n just unlocks level n+1 for some additional white research cubes.
The exceptions are:
* Drone Engine - caps out at level 24
* Drive Engine - caps out at level 100
* Logistics Carrier Capacity - caps out at level 13
* Logistic Station Integrated Logistics - caps out at level 3
So you can't actually finish researching all other techs...
So only dyson sphere is for now.
Yeah, it surprised pretty much everyone that a small team of 5 guys put together a game and on it's INITIAL release into early access and it was in better shape than MANY games are at full release.
Don't look for an end, Look for what you can build. Create some dope factories and worlds for your industrial needs :D
The mission complete tech is the trigger for several achievements. So it has it's use.
It also marks the end of the story/tutorial, whatever you want to call it.
And personally I use the achievements to give me something to do in this game. I'm bad at setting goals for myself, so without them I would have stopped playing after the first time researching this mission complete tech.
I mean it was, until I was told it's early access. I'm very forgiving for honest people.
Beyond that there is still more than enough to do in the game and plenty of areas to expand, unlocking new stars, infinite tech as already mentioned, setting up trade routes between remote planets on remote stars, exploring both the black hole and and the neutron star, mass blueprinting, and generally automating everything into a perfectly oiled machine that no longer depends on the resources of a single planet to keep production going smoothly.
The rankings for power production of player systems in the milky way could be a true endgame goal for some and is a wonderful feature that I expect many overlook - try to be the biggest and best or just reach a target, I set myself a target of 1TW on one playthrough and achieved it. (roll mousewheel all the way out on starmap view for milky way). progressing from watts to megawatts to gigawatts, and then terawatts of power.. still to be dwarfed by those few players out there that have production in terms of petawatts.
Then there are tons and tons of achievements to find, some are easy, some are not but still add to the fun of the game and make the game still have playability way beyond "mission complete".
and of course, it's still early access, combat to come, and I expect more after :)
