My best seed
Hello,
I've been looking for a best new seed to begin a new sphere with combat.
So far, the one that was the most satisfiying was this one:
16538948-64-A99
Why is it good:
1- The first star you can reach contains almost everything
2- There's one star O type that has a planet who's facing the star all the time.
3- You'll get easy unipolar

It's probably not the best that ever existed. Please share your best seed with :torielsad:

There are several existing threads that highlight epic seeds as well as lists on various web sites:

However, everyone may be looking for different things in a seed. For myself, I look for seeds that have interesting properties like clusters with star compositions nearest to or furthest from the galaxy average of 5M, 10K, 13G, 5F, 3A, 21B, 2O.

Currently, I am playing in a star cluster where all the stars are interconnected by warp lines in their galaxy map such as 1653 8952-64-A??; however, as I have not finished the game nor visited more than two planetary systems, I cannot state if or what other properties my cluster seed may have.

Note: The cluster seed listed above is _not_ the one that I am using -- it is just one that has an interconnected map for all 64 stars.

Makes for nice fast vessel travel times in the early game to get things going smoothly. No idea about any other possible goodness of these seeds. I have a list of over 588k seeds that all have this same starting arrangement.

All 3 planets as satellites is also useful for the speedrun achievements. The nice fast Icarus travel times gives you more margin on the clock.

I have looked at some of those pages, and no, there is not satisfaction in what I present. Most of the seeds are based on the first 3 cubes, the easy ones. What I was looking for is a strategy to have A good startup, it does not matter of the planet, the first planet is always the same in my opinion. The first solar system has the same ressources, yeah, it can be painfull if all the planets are not closed enough. But the first solar system is only the 3 or 4 first cubes.

In the long term, you need a good star to build a Dyson sphere. In the upcomming update if you need time and resource as fast as you can, or to build the dyson sphere as fast as you can, most of these seeds are useless.

In my opinion the best seed should:
1- have a solar system with 3 planets around a giant (no mather the giant)
2- The closest solar system should have most of the ressources (except unipolar)
3- Unipolar should be as close as 6 years away
4- An O Star with a planet facing the star all the time

The seed I gave was almost perfect, except for #1, a slow start but a fast ending. If I'm correct the new update will have combat, and I'm pretty sure the combat does not start on your first solar system, but will activate when you start gathering X number of ressources.
So that means, slow begining is ok, having close ressource is the best and having an easy Dyson sphere should be what is optimized for having an easy fight.

Yay random numbers! I've tried one tonight and like most of the seeds, "look at this" and most of them are just a good start, no explanation on the seed and it does not contain super good seeds.

Yeah, but in the next update, is it better to have a good start, or to have best solar system close to you?

Purely a matter of opinion. It depends completely on what sort of game people want to play some want an easier start, some want a strong finish.

Having a lot of rares close by is nice but can reduce some of the challenge that people enjoy and also because they are close by there won't be a lot, the resource multiplier increases the further away you are from the starting system so close rares and close unipolar magnets can end up running out a lot quicker.

Tidal locked around an O class is nice, but arguably a planet that is within the dyson sphere is better as it can see the sphere on all sides of the planet all the time and it might also be better to have lots of O type of varying quality instead of 1 good one

At the moment, that is not a question that anyone (except the developers perhaps) can really answer. There are too many unknowns such as where is the adversary's home world -- is it the black hole, the neutron star, one of the white dwarf stars, the furthest solar system in the cluster from your starting area or something else? Then there is the question as to how fast do they advance in their technology and aggression -- is it based on time played, technology researched, milestones achieved, cluster exploration or what? Other factors could also impact the adversary location and behaviour such as the number of stars in the cluster and/or the resource multiplier.

Then, of course, there is the possibility that there are multiple answers for any given cluster seed -- perhaps the adversaries have multiple home worlds or their aggression is based both off of the unlocked technology, the elapsed time and how much has been explored. Furthermore, while the players may anticipate that the adversaries follow a predictable progression, is there any randomness and, if so, how much to their location and behaviour. Until the update has been released, the various in-game options have been revealed and the community has had time to venture into the more dangerous parts of the Milky-way Galaxy, it is impossible to even suggest candidates for the "best" seed.

Furthermore, as Nekogod stated, the best seed will still be a matter of opinion based on each individual player -- what you want from playing the game and what I want from playing the game may be completely different but still both achievable using the default in-game settings and selection of an appropriate seed. The developers have stated that there will be adjustments that can be made to the adversaries but beyond toggling them on or off -- not much of substance has yet been revealed. Tweaking these in-game options will again change one's perception of what makes a good seed for how they want to experience what the game has to offer.

Beyond all that -- there are or will be user made mods which yet again change how a seed could be selected.

Everyone plays the game differently; for example, some use community created blueprints while others create their own and some do not use them at all -- there are advantages and disadvantages to all these methods but that does not mean that they are playing the game incorrectly; it just means that they will all have different gaming experiences.
