Why does some solar sails live a shorter life?

I heard that a sail lasts 5400 secs, but the life distribution chart shows me that there are some sails that lived like a thousand sec. Why is this happening? How do I make them life a full 5400 sec?

Nothing you can adjust as a player. They should last their full duration without any issues. Can you screenshot the chart to show us?

Yes, by default a solar sail should last 5,400 seconds (upgradable all the way to 9,000 seconds) -- unless you're playing on a save file from prior to 0.7.18.6914 in which case the range was 1,800 - 3,600.

There's only two ways they should be able to go away prior to their normal lifetime:
1) being manually deleted on the dyson sphere editor page.
2) they get absorbed into a Dyson Sphere.

If neither of those is happening, are you sure that they actually expired at around a thousand seconds? (that the column at 1000 seconds is getting shorter) Or is it possible that the life distribution chart is trying to show you that you've a cluster of sails that are currently 1000 seconds into their 5400 second lifetime?

You misread the diagram - it's a distribution chart about the current age of sails around the sun and it helps you plan power output in the short term should delivery shortages or blockages by planet orientation and/or gas giant (in case of a satellite) happen.
