Endgame: do big dyson spheres still lag the game alot?
I have not played into the late game in over a year. I have a "mid-high end" computer thats a few years old now. ik this game is cpu heavy but at a certain point in the game my fps would go from 50-70fps down to 10-15fps permanently. it was usually when i had to start building a bigger swarm/dyson sphere with a few systems decked out with factories. it was just unbearable to play longer than an hour or 2. i liked designing dyson spheres cause it looks so cool and its very satisfying to watch all the building ships launch. I remember someone in the forums saying a while back the dyson spheres are just not optimized well. Has that changed at all?

specs
Cpu i5- 9600k
32gb ram
GTX 1070 8gb
1440p monitor

Yes, Dyson Sphere's still lag the game -- but there is now a built-in option to disable rendering the sphere and / or launched sails which eliminates the slowdown.

Of course, building an invisible Dyson Sphere isn't visually all that impressive, but you can turn rendering on when you want to admire it. :)

Certainly all the way to the 'mission complete' achievement -- many people here call that the end of the tutorial; when infinite science unlocks. You don't need much of a computer to support the factory it takes to "Beat the game"

And that's powerful enough to scale up a long ways beyond the minimum that's required to beat the game. (Especially if you're willing to turn off rendering of them if you go crazy on the dyson spheres)

But the game will allow you to scale vastly beyond the minimum necessary to beat the game. Personally I've pushed it up to probably 30-50 times that level. And there's probably room to push yourself to 4 or 5 hundred times larger a factory and power production that actually needed to beat the game!!
And that's more than enough to bring even the most powerful gaming computer to its knees

It would be really nice if they implemented an option to just make very basic dyson spheres on a preset pattern, and then let each stage generate a solid object the game can rotate instead of tracking all the individual pieces you've launched.

Even my RTX 3090/ Ryzen 9 5950x drops down to 6Fps with a 2600+Node sphere.shut off the rendering is the only way to play with that.

Erp, if you're choking that card then not much else to do.

i9-9900, 32gb 3466, 2080s with overclock.

Final build was with ~~24'022'400'000 sails.

Is that a modded star? 2.9L isn't possible in the vanilla game is it?
