IOW At that point 4 million is the equivalent of about 820 million (and if you keep researching VU it just gets better and better - you need fewer unipolar magnets to research the next level of VU than you gain back from that VU boost)
The power of recipe lies not in the convenience, rather the reduction of length of the Green motors production chain. You don't need to use the Unipoles until you begin to have performance problems in your game. Hopefully, by the time that happens, you will have high enough Vein Utilization (VU) to make efficient use of the resource. At that point, you're able to dump the 100's of other machines involved in the E.Motors production chain, gaining a bit of a performance bump via the Unipole recipe 'shortcut'.
I'll be honest, I've only ever used the recipe in one game of mine just so that I can say I've used it. (I'm on #13 atm)
Thankfully, we're also still in EA, so tweaking of the recipe could still take place. Not to mention that we have no idea what other resource requirements the Combat Update will bring for us - perhaps even the possibility of 'harvesting' the scrap leftover from combat - which may also include rares as well?
VU ramps exponentially at VU 60 your resources are multiplied by 41 so 4m becomes 160m
At VU 70 resources are x76 almost double what they are at 60. so 4m becomes 304m
At VU 80 resources are x141 nearly doubled again so 4m becomes 564m
Every 10 levels is x1.7 more resources
Every 12 levels doubles resources so it grows really quickly.
At VU 112 that 4m becomes 4bn
That's pretty much the point of the game, haha.
The entire tech tree up to the point you start research White Jello is considered by some to be just a long drawn out tutorial, as you don't really get the ability to 'sandbox' very well until after you unlock warpers/Green Jello, which is the last step before unlocking Universe Matrices (White) - which by then, you finally have all the tools you need to unlock the rest of the open-world sandbox-style gameplay.
Again, that's just one particular perspective of DSP gameplay, though certainly not the only one, of course.
