Deuterium won't move from local Orbital Collector to local ILS
I've got four Collectors on the gas giant that the starting world orbits. I saw them getting deuterium. I have an ILS set for deuterium remote demand. It has 10 space-worthy logistics ships but they won't go get the deuterium from the Collectors. I'm pretty sure you need to get large-scale deuterium production up so you can make strange matter for gravity lenses.

Have your collectors hit the minimum amount yet? Prior to a good few levels in Veins Utilisation orbital collectors are incredibly slow. Low rates coupled with having to burn some of what's collected for power.

Orbital collectors need 30 MW

Taking the gas giant in my starter system as an example it has 0.8877377/s Hydrogen and 0.03772246/s Deuterium

Orbital collectors have a base speed of x8 so that's approximately 7.1/s and 0.3/s

Resources are burned according to power density and collection rate, hydrogen and deuterium both have 9MJ so only collection rate is considered.

This particular gas giant has a 96/4 split so 96% of the power needed comes from the hydrogen and 4% from the deuterium

Or 28.8MW and 1.2MW respectively.

This translates to 3.2 hydrogen/s and 0.13 deuterium/s

So final extraction rates are 3.9 hydrogen/s and 0.17 deuterium/s

If your vessels are set to 100% load minimum they won't go until there is 200/400/whatever your current vessel size is. Assuming a size of 200 it will take around 19.5 minutes for a collector to accrue enough deuterium.

I would recommend either doing the full 40 collectors which'll get you 8000 per 20 minutes in the above example (6.6/s) or using the hydrogen and fractionators to generate deuterium.

Fractionators are limited by belt speed so assuming you have mark 2 belts that's 12 per second, they have a 1% chance to convert hydrogen into deuterium so I'd expect around 1 per 8 seconds or 1 per second per 8 fractionators.

Veins Utilisation can drastically impact the rates however as the amount burned for power is flat and does not change.

At VU 2 the collection rate on Orbital Collectors is 11.2x which bumps up the rates in the above example to 9.94/s and 0.42/s which after power drain are 6.74/s and 0.29/s so almost doubling both rates. It'd take 11.5 minutes for a collector to accrue 200 deuterium which with 40 collectors would be 11.6/s vs 6.6/s with no VU.

Oh also there is a checkbox to say whether vessels are allowed to collect from orbital collectors or not, make sure it says they can. To be fair I probably should have led with that XD

Check if orbital collectors are checked on the ILS.
check box in the bottom right of the ILS window iirc

Is your ILS hooked up to your power grid?

Yeah, it's most likely a minimium load issue. Unless you have an exceptionally good gas giant, you'll want to fractionate most your dutronium. (As you get them, use stackers and mk 3 belts to get some rally REALLY fast conversion rates)

Thanks for the tips, folks. I've got an adequate deuterium production rate now.
