That being said, this particular small dev team has a bit of a perfectionist attitude in their development style... The game they released on literally day 1 was polished and 99% playable. Everything over the last 2 years has just been tweaking and working toward their final vision. If every other EA was HALF as good as DSPs EA, the PC gaming world would be a much cheerier place.
Having played Riftbreaker, the gameplay is only similar in the visual style and very barebone mechanics of mining resources and the placement of structures. (Though, some of that may change after the upcoming Combat update in the next several months)
As for Satisfactory?...
There's 3 big games out there in this particular genre.
Factorio (the Grandfather of the entire Genre), Satisfactory, and Dyson Sphere Program.
I would rank them:
Tie #1/#2 Dyson Sphere Program / Factorio
#3 ... lots of other games
#4 Satisfactory
tl;dr Yes, buy it. You will NOT regret it.
That said - there is no burning reason to play it right now. You may as well wait for the EA period to be over.
I will definitely buy it.
