Blueprints are terrible and never work right
No matter what I remove or clear or pave it always says "overlaps another"
I recreated it, modified the original design, restarted the game after saving, a million things
In an obv clear area it simply wont build

I ran into this early on with blueprints. For me it was more location than the blueprint itself. It may be that the area where you made the blueprint was closer to the equator and where you're pasting it is close enough to the poles that it's too compressed.

avoid too many parallels when building. When the buildings pass into another seasonal area the blueprint doesn't work.

build your blueprint only in line, and small packs like a puzzle to assemble, then you can get rid of compressed things

sorry for my english

I always remove "belts" from blueprints. Its only way to make it workin

agree the blueprint system is a not working, very bad thing

It would make your case more believable with screenshots.

Sadly the whole Blueprint design is flawed due to the Grid System this game has by how some lines of the grid do not match up, and how they get smaller the closer you are to the North or South Poles.

On top of that, the Grid System also separates parts of the planet with the Yellow Ring around it which blocks Blueprints from overlapping it.
This is partly due to the fact things like Solar Panels for example will not be allowed to be built so close to some of those Yellow Rings due to there size, and would just end up when built clipping through each other, yet the Accumulators are smaller so they can be built right next to it.
If however you were to manually build close to that same Yellow Ring with Solar Panels it would let you but, you would notice that they are further apart than how the Blueprint would of done it.

Another example is using a Large Storage Container and in some places you will see the Grid won't line up very well so that Belts will either be too close or too far from the Input point, and this is where a Sorter would go and the speed at which they work will be different due to it, or simply put the game will not allow you to put a Sorter on that connection.

Sadly unlike games like Factorio and such this Blueprint system in DSP is just Flawed and broken due to the Grid System they are using.

I keep my Blueprints to a very small selection and even then it can be a real pain in the ass.

It's true that blueprints can be a bit frustrating, but as long as you prefer to build wide rather than tall (left and right rather than up and down), then there shouldn't be too much of a problem in most cases. I also tend to prefer to build closer to the equator because that gives you the most room north and south.

The one MAJOR exception is Chemical Plants because they seem to be exceptionally finicky when it comes to blueprints, as sometimes blueprints, even within the same tropic zone (yellow lines), will cause the Chemical Plants to be far enough apart that you can put power poles between them (at one corner), but sometimes not, and rarely, won't allow you to place the blueprint at all because they get scrunched together.

Of course water/craters that require filling in with foundations also doesn't help things >.>

Meanwhile I'm importing more and more while doing some of my own, and somehow it all works. Doesn't feel useless to me that I'll never have to build that 96 fractionator setup again. Or that 2 GW battery exchanger. Both polar designs, so yeah ok i would have to design them again if i wanted to use them in different places but so far there was no need for that.

You tried the one thing that the system is bad at but that doesn't mean it's all broken and useless. Yes you can't just copy or transplant any design to every other place, everything is subject to the sphere, blueprints are specific to certain ranges of latitude. Unless they just encompass the whole planet, that is.

You still can have BP's of huge production chains. Work sideways instead of up and down . And to just name one example, you can put down a planetwide powergrid on a new planet with one click ( and some legwork to get it actually built). Maybe add rings of solar panels to mark those gridshift lines for a better visualisation of the different areas.

*edit*

Yeah good point, they need to basically include the Blueprint Tweaks mod, foundations really should be a part of the BP as well.

I play my whole production out of blueprints meanwhile.
My blueprints are rather big and them going around the planed (a few around 4000 items)
This blueprints working pretty well.
May you figure out how to use them properly.
Care for the grid system on planed and you are fine.
I don't want to miss it anymore..

Build on the larger tiles (the 2 section of 16 tiles next to equator) save your blueprint then delete, i built all my blueprint like that and i only met your problem once with chemical plant wich i solve by just pressing tab to make a tiny space between the plants. As long as you build "horizontaly" you shouldnt have any issues with the blueprints

Needs better error messages, would be a start anyway.
