Also, for combining/merging belts the 'T' intersection doesn't have to be a perfect 90 degrees, but if you're using free placement of belts you can end up in a situation where the belts meet at too narrow an angle for the game to connect them.
What I have discovered helps when working in tight quarters, is to put down one, single conveyor belt close to the exit port, before I connect any sorter.
>>>the issue of level ground can really complicate things, so check that, and if you have the technology, defo level out the ground if you notice the grid and where you are allowed to put down the belt seem wonky in any way.
Then I will do the same, lay down a single conveyor belt, just outside the entry port to the storage, or whatever the final spot is, before putting a sorter.
Then I click the single exit belt I put down and connect that to the single entrance belt I put down on the destination end. It really cut a lot of bluster and bother.
Then I connect the sorter from the exit port to the conveyor belt and the sorter from the conveyor belt to the storage (or whatever other intermediary or final destination I have going on).
I consider myself quite a n00b, so, I'm currently at a point where I really like it when I can actually manage to space things closely enough that I don't even need conveyor belts. That was a massive epiphany for me about 6 hours into real, actual game play time. One always must have 2 conveyor belts to get ore and such out of the mining machine, and likewise conveyor belts are absolutely necessary for the liquid storage, in and outward bound, but from storage to an assembler, and loads of other things, you don't even need a conveyor belt. You know, until you do.
I haven't watched any vids of other folk playing, and I don't know how to use blueprints, at all. I plan to sort my lack of blueprint knowledge sometime this month or next month, and I expect that will have a huge impact on my present infrastructure, but for the moment I'm happy playing with what I do know.
Hope anything I wrote helps anyone.
seem like some places connect just fine and others dont, i guess im just no smart enough to get it figured out
i was really thinking maybe a had a bug? but i dont seem to have any other issues
My top 3 conveyor belt challenges
