Any fix for this or hotkey for saving? this is a game breaking bug
edit. as the kind people pointed in the Discord this game autosaves, so I did not loose my game :)
For anyone else struggling with this;
Turns out in my case trying to access the Milky Way in the start screen caused the escape menu not work in game. It was a new feature for me so I tried to click it wondering every time I restarted the game (it will not work for me), so the bug kept repeating itself.
This issue was consistent for me right from the start. I wasted a bunch of time trying to fix input controls. Finally realized that having an X-Box controller connected to the system at game launch was causing the issue. If you have a gamepad/controller in addition to a keyboard and mouse then try starting DSP with the controller unplugged.
I don't have any controllers connected to my pc and I still get this problem where ESC suddenly stops working and won't bring up the menu. It seems to be related to the milky way function. The first time I started playing I was checking things out and tried unsuccessfully loading the milkyway from the main menu. I started my new game after that but when I tried to access the Esc menu to save my game it wouldn't work and I had to force shut down the game. Haven't had any issues since then until just now where I've just been looking at the star map and tried zooming all the way out until it started loading the milky way. At about 9% loaded it just opened the main menu instead of loading the milky way and I could hit resume to get back to my game, but now ESC isn't working again.
Same thing here, no controller and the issue only happens after failing to load the milky way.
Unfortunately this is exactly what breaks the menu access for me. :S Tried doing it a second time in the hopes that it would make it work again, but nope. It never actually successfully loads the milky way for me. The second time it made it to about 50%, then it just opens the menu so at least I can save my game before shutting it down and starting it up again.
