As of hotfix, cannot rotate camera, open menus, or move mech with keyboard
I was playing just fine the past couple of days, but as of today when I boot the game up and load my old save, I cannot move my camera, hit ESC, or open any menu at all. I can use WASD to walk around for a little bit, but after a minute that stops working too. All I can do is use right click to move.

And yes, the keyboard is working fine. In addition, you know how if you hold left click to move the camera a lot it shows the little popup that says "Use Middle Mouse to rotate camera"? It disappears when I click middle mouse, acknowledging that the game is receiving the input, but it doesn't do anything beyond that.

After about 1 minute of running around pressing buttons trying to get it to work, eventually I can't control anything in the game except for right clicking to move.

I've reloaded my save and a backup of my save 4 times now. I've verified game cache. It worked fine before the hotfix.

UPDATE:
Try disabling Steam Input in the game properties, which you can access by right clicking the game in your library. It's under the "Controllers" menu. This seems to have helped me but let me know in a comment if it did or didn't.

Same. I can't rotate the Dyson sphere with the world time running, but I can rotate it with world time paused.

works for me post-patch (did not try sphere but walking and rotating on planet is fine)

I got this too the first time I opened the game, after restarting it it works fine. Not sure if I'll encounter the bug again though.

Do you have a controller plugged in?

It is fixed for me since today's patch.

Ok, an update. After making this post, and giving up, I came back to it a few hours later and... it works now. I don't really know why. If anyone can find out more info that'd be great. I don't think there was a hotfix during my time away but maybe? Anyway, if anyone still has issues with it, try it again just in case. I hope it works for y'all.

Same experience. After a few hours from the update, the sphere rotation worked again.

I played for a few hours without issue then went to play another game with a friend for a bit and came back to DSP to find I could not use the keyboard or rotate the view. So I too am having to say "same here" :steamfacepalm::steamsalty:

I just had a thought and unplugged my controller then tried again. May just be a coincidence but the issue did not occur when I started up my game. I will try again with the controller plugged in and see what happens.

Yep, if I start the game with my PS4 controller plugged in the game will not use the keyboard at all even though using the controller does nothing at all in the game. Without the controller the game works fine.

It seems that launching the game while having a controller connected will cause this issue. I just encountered this bug again and I could "solve" it by just relaunching the game without a controller plugged in. I hope this works.

As a workaround, I'm using a tool called DevManView[www.nirsoft.net], which allows me to use it's command line options to set up two desktop shortcuts, one to disable my controller and a second to re-enable it. It's essentially the same as going into device manager and disabling/enabling in there, but that can't normally be done through a shortcut, so nirsoft's tool is required to do it.

Basically, you just extract the .exe somewhere and in the target box of a shortcut call the devmanview.exe wherever you extracted it and then use /enable "<device name>" and /disable "<device name>" arguments. Pretty simple. You may have to run the devmanview.exe normally to actually find the correct device name to use in your arguments.

So the target boxes for the shortcuts look like this for me:
E:\_Tools\DevManView\DevManView.exe /disable "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows"
and
E:\_Tools\DevManView\DevManView.exe /enable "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows"
