Well, some people can't just get used to it for varied reasons. It's better to have full keybind customization in games.
I really like MX-518 gaming mouse. I played with the original for many years and then new model was released some years back that improved it further. Pressing mousewheel has always been the same, and my current one is already second one of the new model (3rd mouse), just because previous got minor issue with right mouse button after half a year.
But this mouse does have button 4 and 5 for thumb, but i just can't imagine using them for camera rotation. I can already imagine thumb screaming in agony like some years in the past. You don't want to put thumb into fast and repeated stress.
All i ask is to add control option to change "Exit build mode". Is this too much? No 3D-game uses middle-mousebutton to rotate camera... Imagine the outcry if they changed defaults for World of Warcraft to it (or name any popular game). DSP wanted to test new waters, it's not working.
Also mouse-button usage should be set by how much it is used. With default middle-click rotation, how much are you utilizing your right-click? Answer is: Much less than your middle-click! It should be other way around.
im missing the left middle and wedding fingers tips so its impossible for me to play competitive fps-games but im sure youll find something that might help you :) why not trying to ask the devs for this?
I got easily used to middle mouse button to look around :)
You can rebind mmb to something else using autohotkey and that'll be your only option until the key customization is actually full.
(How could you possibly need THAT many green motors, game!)
At the moment, I don't think I have middle mouse bound to *anything,* because it's an irritating button to use and I don't like it.
Even if i were to use external software to remap middle-click to right-click i'd face the same issue.
As for "getting used to" issue... Have you ever tried convincing some FPS players that "invert mouse" is not the way to go? (Or vice versa, what if YOU were forced to use invert mouse?) Some things just don't work for people. Or WSAD VS EDSF keys etc... It doesn't hurt to give players these choices.
I honestly haven't noticed an issue with build mode. It probably *does* do exactly that, I just don't notice because it's not how I use build mode. I guess I pick the angle I need and don't change it, or if it does pop out then I just move to a better camera angle and re-enter build mode?
Regardless, it's the only option the game currently has. For me it works "well enough," and I just *don't* use the Middle Mouse button. Thinking about it, the ONLY game I play where the middle mouse is allowed to do anything in my setup is Warframe - some small number of ranged weapons use it to switch modes (such as changing from "Yamato Cannon" to "Quick fire" for a specific beam rifle) and melee weapons use it to trigger a Heavy Attack. Which has to be "charged" by building up Combo Counter. I tolerate it because neither function needs to be spammed.
