Solar sails and performance
I last played sometime mid last year. Back then it was at least rumored that solar sails are one of the biggest offenders in terms of performance. Was it true then and how is the situation today?

Its not the sails themselves in a swarm thats causes the hit, its sails when they are added as cells into the dyson sphere. Its better then it was but it still is an offender to the massive spheres

That's why I don't plan to use solar sails for my dyson sphere. I build one around a bright blue giant, so the frames should be enough to provide all the power I might need.

You can now disable sphere rendering in game, which restores your FPS back to normal.

For the most part and general play, frames work perfectly fine and the super massive spheres people make are for bragging rights only since they would pretty much never use that much power (each white cube mk3 belt full (single stack) is only roughly 40-50GW required so going above 250GW really is just for showing off :P.

At the same point as well for casual play and a smaller sphere, filling it in with cells wont affect preformance much either and will still meet general use.

Yeah it's gonna be one of those big ones. Last time I got up to 700 or so MW before my system gave up. Now with more efficiency I hope to crack 1 TW (proliferators alone might do the trick).

Good to hear about some improvement at least.

Suppose I'll give it a shot with the sails and they can always be deleted if I need to. Thanks :)

The Centre Brain needs more power, slacker!.. :steammocking:

Lol dont get me wrong, ive done a TW+ sphere already (prior to the monitor update) and now with the belt stacking, it would combine my white cube production to a single mk3 belt (7200/min). Might decide to do another long play again soon :P.
