Anymore big content upgrades ahead?
So I'm basically done with the game. Pretty short for a logistics game. Well worth the $20 though. However, I'm interested in whether the game will have a huge update in content in the future as I don't really see a need for the Dyson sphere program itself ironically. I built a network that allows for 10 launches at a time on a planet continuously. A ton of sails for that, and yet I don't even need any of the energy for any of this as there's nothing else to build for. Also, the energy transmitters acquire so little energy that it's just better to get energy from hydrogen. That's all that's really needed for all of my planets so far. I hope there's more end game content where I actually need my artificial suns.

For big new content which isn't common sense refinement (such as blueprints) they have said they want enemies in the game and there are people who think multiplayer will be a thing but I'm not as sure on that.

At the stage of the game you are in the content is basically the same as say Minecraft, set your own goal such as come up with a way to outstrip your hydrogen production and need those artificial suns.

"Short game"
Depends on what you want out of it. I like to grow the output and make it bigger and bigger and bigger. I'm at like 700 hours in the game so far, and still have a ton of expansion I can do. Yes, you can complete the tech tree fairly quickly, but it really is an open ended type of game. You can set the goals however you wish

so 700 hours of entertainment (so far) for 20 bucks ... That's value.
EDIT: I know you did not say it was not a good value, just highlighting the value it has for me.

I will say, however, I do agree with you on the need for the dyson sphere itself. It looks cool, but I really only build them so I can get the artificial stars going. Once I get those in place they generate such a massive output of power, in such a small footprint, it just blows everything else out of the water.

It's kind of like building a model railroad or similar type thing for me. It's not really an end goal, but more about enjoying the process of growing the system and balancing it. The logistics of it.

Oh I was running through code, and there definitely enemy's there x) And I think they be here pretty soon. Logic is somewhat done for them anyways.

Oh nice, I was going by memory of what was said on their FAQ but I didn't think the code was already in the game for it. I should really get the Unity SDK back onto my computer so I can see about looking at the code myself but have you found anything related to full blueprints in there for a hint on what it will be like or how soon? I'd like to play more but for me am at a stage where I need blueprints, all credit to the guy who has done that mod for them as it kept me playing a while longer but having to alt tab and copy past a text string is too clunky.

lol...short game.

I'm at 99.5 hours and am not done my first sphere, yet. I'm all about planet-spanning belts and such, though. My main planet looks like it was vomited up by the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

200+ hours and far from having "finished" the game, especially with all the mods to spice things up. If you say you're finished just because you researched the last tech in the tree, that's up to you, but it feels more like a joke from the devs who included that just because.

Yeah, it's probably a place-holder for something to come later on. Or a flag for something. Once you've completed the mission, a new one unlocks or something.

Kind of like Minecraft where you have 'won' when you defeat the Ender Dragon, the big bad boss of the game, and then there's modpacks that require you to -farm- Dragon heads/eggs/breath to create even more endgame-tiered stuff. Sandbox is never finished unless you say so.

Just use dnSpy. Its a good decompiler that works wonders with unity code. Search for MonsterComponent.

I've gone far past the "finish game" research. I've made a few dyson spheres and loaded up on all the artificial suns. I was hoping to have a goal of say needing to have a massive amount of energy from various planets in various star systems to be used in some type of wormhole generator to connect to another galaxy that has rare resources and then that would have its own tech tree and crafting tree. But the dyson sphere itself is really not needed for anything which is a shame. Maybe current end game shouldn't be just 4000 universal research, but having to have at least 3 dyson spheres and 50 artificial suns running to travel to the center of the galaxy or whatever. Adding this last goal would of made it more satisfying and would of been a quick mod. Yes yes I know I can add my own goals but would of been nice to have an official end game that's more satisfying. Current end goal is just the same as not having an end goal anyways. For $20 though it's a steal. But I would of paid $30 if there was a more satisfying official goal :)

I felt the same. Lots of planets left untouched. Love this game, but I'm thirsty for a reason to build as big as I can. The overmind or hyperbrain or whatever it is that needs placating is OK for an early access arc plotholder but I'd really love an intrinsic reason to push forward in the game. A gigantic enemy of immense scale, 2AU wide or larger (that fits the scale of this game.) A long forgotten doom on the way to our little part of the galaxy to swalllow up everything you've built. As it drives closer year by year, entities are sent in by the foe to probe and attack, attempting to retrieve knowledge of your weaknesses and origins. At first, each wave seems easily dispatched personally when they enter airspace, you need to defend your planets and system from them.. then larger and more keep coming, with more powerful gear and technology, and in greater numbers. Your research veers in focus to weaponry and defensive capability, speed, power, efficiency... as a cataclysm looms: The Dreadnaught Object, powered by some as yet unknown technology which you hope to discover before it is too late, larger and more massive than anything any in the hivecom could have imagined gets ever closer. You will need many dyson spheres to power your incredible beam weapons and the heaviest resources to fuel and arm your missles and fighters and anything else you can devise, every scrap you can process to build with to defend against what could destroy us all if you don't meet the foe and stop the ingestion--

Sorry, got off the rails there.. maybe just spooky owl noises at night?
