logistic vessel warping
so i wanted to move to a different system due to the rare minerals so i can make purple and yellow science faster and for some reason i think my logistic vessels are flying to the other star system without any space warpers? i originally put in 8 in my main planet incase i ever needed some short term cargo solutions but it seems my logistics vessels have all gone to get silicon from the opposite stars. on my home planet, the vessels are going to a different star to get silicon, and on the other star, they are also doing this. any reasons why? i dont have any space warpers and i dont think the vessels should be doing this

also i know they are going to the opposite stars since all my logistics vessels are busy and i have -4000 silicon about to be exported on my silicon planet, and 4000 silicon waiting to be imported from my factory planet

you need logistic speed 4 for logistic vessels to use warpers.

as far as logistic vessels deciding that they'd rather fly to the next star over for silicon instead of the next planet over, that's one of the couple bits of early access jank that hopefully gets addressed eventually.

hope they fix it asap since its kinda game breaking right now...

reseach the logistic tech watching logistic vessels go to warp is strangly beautiful too

i have already done that, otherwise i would not be able to put space warpers in my logistic station.

thanks so much! didnt read good enough for logistic speed IV i was really struggling after i depleted my own system :)

I'm struggling with planning out the intergalactic logistics with warpers. Seems to be only 2 solutions that I can come up with.

1. Supply warpers to a primary planet or station and stock it with all the vessels that will be gathering from across the galaxy. No vessels to be used outside of the home system, otherwise they'll get stuck in sublight travel for hours.

2. Crank out enough warpers to supply every galactic station. (NOTE: you can adjust how many of an item are demanded by clicking and dragging on the item bar) The upside is that as soon as a delivery of warpers arrive, they get "eaten" by the station and go into it's warper slot. (not the demand slot) So having only 1 logistics station remote demand, then sending them out locally to the others by belts or small ships is an option.

I think what should be programmed in is if you have one station set to supply warpers, any interstellar logistics station with drones should go and pick some up to restore the stations own stockpile. Would make for a much easier time, especially when you have one mass smelting world which requires multiple platforms just to receive the ores need to keep smelting.

1 main intergalactic resource station keep dumping warper into it. So far my guys will take enough for a return trip.

Someone else helped me with this you just belt into the factory to keep it stockpiled.

maybe having an option for the intersteller logistics to ship within system and one for intersystem shipping, that way you can easily setup a main hub planet in systems that does all the external exporting and importing and then you can setup the other logistic stations to move everything around systems as you see fit

This ruins late game because if you are not supplying everything with space warper a lot of your vessels will get trapped for hours in space. I passed 10 of them while I was warping :(

10... you gotta be kidding... i did not know and my entire fleet of atleast 40 ships is leisurely taking a stroll through the (country) universe -side....

i mean 6 lightyears isn*T that far... ♥♥♥♥ me sideways... 30 hours into a campaign (i can almost hear the whitesnake song in the background "and here i go again on my own, goin down the ...")
Some thoughts for the devs that could help with the problems folks here are having:

Request
Would it be possible to add an option on each resource slot in a logistics station for interstellar (actually between stars, not just between planets) demand? E.g. Local Supply/Demand/Storage, Remote Supply/Demand/Storage, <third name, inter-system?> Supply/Demand/Storage.

Example
To illustrate a case in which this would be useful, I want to create Yellow science in a distant star system (Sartan) and ship it home to my original system (Coxa). I found organic crystals on Sartan II, and titanium at Sartan I. I would like to ship Titanium from Startan I to Sartan II and manufacture the yellow science there, but I am already shipping Titanium from Coxa I to my home planet of Coxa III, meaning that my logistics vessels from Coxa I will try to ship Titanium to Sartan II, using warpers unnecessarily.

For now I have a few workarounds:
  • I could ship the organic crystals to Sartan I and do the manufacturing there, then ship home
  • I could just ship the organic crystals home to Coxa III and do the manufacturing there, using the Titanium I already have from Coxa I
... But this means my problem solving is constrained by a configuration limitation, which doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the rest of the game.

Thoughts on naming
In my request above I waffled about the name of this third option, so here are some more in-depth thoughts. Y'all are the game designers and I trust you to know best, these are some examples to illustrate some ways in which it could work. Once it is no longer just Local/Remote, those two antonyms don't really leave room for a third option, so probably we would need a new naming scheme. Possibly:
  • Local Planet, Local System, All Systems
  • Planet, System, Everywhere

You could also leave it as-is and have an "allow warp" checkbox (per resource). But that doesn't really apply to the Local option; and it since it introduces another UI component, it makes the Logistics Station controls more complicated than it needs to be.

^ It looks like we will have some progress towards this. From the dev letter today:
Framework of logistics management system: A basic management framework will be setup to the logistics system. Of course, it will be still 'basic' at February that may only bring 'basic' logistic solution for you, such as the farthest transportation distance and the quantity requirement of delivering goods. The logistic system will be fleshed with the progress of game development in the future.
