How to fix game not loading and showing stuck on "Almost there" at load screen
Hey guys,

I thought i would share this, because it was doing my head in and I really wanted to play this game and looking online there was nothing to reference for help.

first thing after looking around I noticed there was a log file located at the following location which identified and helped me fix my errors - C:\Users\%username%\AppData\LocalLow\Youthcat Studio\Dyson Sphere Program

In this location there was a file called output_log.txt

For my game, this was not working as i had a previous folder redirection on my documents folder which was causing the error.

I know this would be a specific error due to my environment and setup, but this Log location might help others

I had the following basically at the start of the output which notified me of the error

UnloadTime: 0.394300 ms
DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path "//ktsdc01/Folder Redirection$/###/Documents/Dyson Sphere Program/Save/_autosave_tmp.dsv".

Me too :) It creates the Folder at my network share but doesnt starts. Maybe because of / instead \ ...

Yea I think the game might not like network shares, I just went in the registry and changed the folder redirection to local and removed my GPO.

Once that happened started fine :)

hi, how did you solve your problem? because I have the same ..
Salt Jan 26, 2021 @ 1:48am
have a look at the output log, see what it says.

In my case I had to change the registry in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders for personal to be a local folder instead of the network share.

basically remove the folder redirections.

Thanks for the tip.
Looks like it's only the unc-paths that the game is struggling with. It does work if you map your documents folder as a network drive.

example: I have my documents folder on \\nas\myname\home\documents and have now mapped my p-drive as \\nas\myname\home

In the registry key mentioned by Salt I used "P:\Documents"

I have this problem, too, filled a bug report and posted it in another thread. Problem with this solution is, that elevated programs won't have "P:\" and will not find the documents, while an UNC-path redirection will work with that (I think the AMD driver installer is such a programm and will fail, workaround is to use an install-user for it (shift+rightklick run as user)). I hope the developers will fix it or give a command-line option to specify a local path for saves and settings.

And it's fixed with the new patch and the gamefolder\Configs\path.txt. Saving the word archive in there stores everything in the gamefolder\archive.

Thanks devs!

Edit: the word in the path.txt is the folder name it'll create. You can also use the word saves, profiles or something similiar, but you shouldn't use an already existing folder. The game will automaticly create a folder with that name in the game directory and stores the settings and savegames in there.

Just add a word in ..\Configs\path.txt , i used saves.
Restart the game and all is good !

I confirm this also did the trick for me. Found the file at gamefolder\Configs\path.txt and literally wrote the word "archive", hit save. Then started up DSP. Even worked on my Parallels machine. Too bad the game doesn't work well. Oh well, I'll get off the couch and just use my PC!

The game has stopped working normally for me too , yesterday i played with nothing wrong and today the game loads extremely slow and runs on barely 1fps , ive tried reinstalling , updating gpu drivers , reseting pc , running the app as an administrator and nothing seems tp fix it

ALL you CHECK or Verify your game files, Make sure you have Direct X installed. Check your CPU, GPU, also uninstall - Reinstall, If that doesnt work try update your video drivers ?????????

tried doing all of that and nothing seems to help , the game crashed about 30 in the loading screen with an error messsage ''DSPGAME.EXE has stopped working"
I’m working through parallels. On one of my machines which is ARM based it works just fine. However on my Intel based machine it won’t load. I’ve tried all the things here and still won’t load. Still getting errors just before it opens. Anyone have anymore ideas?

This has solved an issue I have had with heaps of other games. 18 months of issues solved by you! thanks a million
