I promise you that there are never any resources directly on the star. Clicking on it tells you what is in the system.
Go the the starmap mode while in the system and check every planet including the ones orbiting gas giants. It will be there
You can tell by their names usually how many there are.
If you star "starname" V there are 5 planets in total fx.
There can even be two satellites.
2. perhaps you just overlooked one? count the orbits and those of satellites and make sure that you don't miss a single one, some can be quite stealthy.
It seems to be a bug to me, as other rare resources can be still confirmed in the Planet view remotely. It’s only organic crystals that can’t be seen where they are distributed remotely.
Something else, not sure when this was included, but on the starter world, that has the 'regular' green trees, you will see yellow trees also, HARVEST THE YELLOW ones! They often give an organic crystal as loot! :o)
Here is another useful tip, if you look closely you will see that some of the rocks have an odd shape, like a butte in the desert, sort of, hover on that and you will see that it is titanium crystals! Gather ALL of those rocks, will help get ready to leave the starter world looking for titanium nodes.
And silicon CAN be made from 10 rocks, isn't efficient but will work until you find a better source
While I am giving advice about this game I may as well include a few more:
"Fault Lines" are places on the map where the squares on each side of the line are different sizes. These places can cause a lot of trouble, buildings that wont connect to belts, or sorters, usually says something like the Angle is too great. These areas will always be troublesome, so best to avoid them. Do this and get 2 birds with 1 stone; build wind turbines along the fault line, since it doesn't need a belt or sorter the troublesome line is nullified. This works to outline the areas where you can build and also gives a lot of power. You can do this with solar panels also, but the sun only shines on half of it at once, the wind never sleeps.
Another tip; as soon as you can find some coal, manually mine a bunch to use for fuel in the Mech!
With the addition of the new planets, I suggest that you look closely at the terrain, and harvest some of it, watching to see what loot you get.
What I missed was that where rare resources like organic crystals are located cannot be seen from a remote starmap. You need to fly into the star system to see which planets have them.
Talking about bug, now I think it's NOT a bug. That was my mistake. I mistakenly thought you could see other rare resources on a planet from a remote starmap, but you CAN NOT. By design or not, where rare resources are located is hidden until you reach a system.
