what you mean you place them on gas planet equator and they mine by them self
In addition to being on a gas giant, you must not be in the sail mode. Point yourself directly at the planet and move forward until the "Sail mode Ended" message still appears. Another way to check that you aren't in sail mode is that your position (latitude and longitude, as appears next to the mini-map in the lower left) remains constant when you don't press the movement keys.
2. Travel to the equator.
3. Place the Orbital collector. You can fit 40 if you space them exactly 10 tiles apart.
4. Back at home, use an interplanetary logistic station to request their products (Hydrogen and either Deuterium or Fire-ice), make sure you have ships in it, those ships will fly to the gas giant and pick up the product.
Note: by default (you can change settings), they'll only fly to a collector to pick up the resources if it will fill the ship, so it may take a while before a ship sets off.

Is that a modded game?
Look in the lower left and navigate with Long/Latt values.
