Not all are good for construction. The game kind of abstracts that part out.
Yes, but said matter to matter conversion takes a lot of energy. Where would we get that energy? Maybe a Dyson Sphere of some sort?
Like say, the halfway point give or take you can start to dissasemble the planets.
The surface area of a sphere the size of earth's orbit would be on the order of 108,685,409,760,000,000 square miles TIMES the thickness you desire it to be.
You wouldn't build it out that far though. The radius of a Dyson Sphere would be as far out as how much heat the material you are using can withstand per sq meter. The thinkness would depend on the cooling system and the armor to protect from asteroids and other debris.
Any farther out, would just mean you are wasting material, since you are already getting 100% of the solar power from that star.
as far as the game, i think it's balanced in that i had to build/mine on about 6 or 7 other planets in my in-game galaxy to complete my dyson sphere on my home star.
