Farming trees to gather substainable amounts of logs and plant fuel for organic crystal
Is this something we could see in future?
And not only foor organic recipies but maybe for a whole lot of other stuff as well?

It would be a nice approch to have some kind of farming in it wich would obviously take alot more space but hey we got entire planet's don't we?

For those who played anno 2070 looking at how those farms had automated installations to farm plants would be something wich could bring a whole new atmosphere for dyson sphere program as well.

Food to feed the lazy people that have given up on life and entered VR. That does seem like it would fit... The lazy sods do need to eat.

I was kind of surprised there was no Lumber station to output wood and plant matter, maybe requires water input.

might be tough to balance though, cause literally anything is better than the plastic -> organic crystal chain.

The trees in this game are the biggest enemy, just like in Factorio. They restrict your view, like if I want to build a perfect mine with 6+6 veins but this stupid tree is growing in the middle blocking my view and if you chop it down you just clog your inventory like jesus christ

At least they'll disappear if you build on top of them. That makes it waaaaay better.

How do they clog inventory, toss em in a burner >:D

What is my incentive to use one of the most useless fuel sources, in the most important fuel slot in the game?

Are you denying that Trees and plants need a sink? What game have you been playing?

Now that my home world is mostly drained of stuff and only ships in finished products I have reclaimed most of the former industrial places and it is sooo barren. Would be cool if I could plant the trees there again (or if they spread from the existing ones slowly). I managed to leave whole South pole part of my planet forested, though that is not much seeing only 55% of it is actually land.

Also, interesting idea, people will object it is tedious, yes it is, if done manually (though it can its uses, I know I crafted at least 2k crystals that way). If it was a machine planting and harvesting it could be early/low tech and inefficient option compared to going via chem factories.

Plants have to be manually harvested, so there's little need to automate their destruction. Just fill up a box and run it towards a thermal plant. The problem will eventually solve itself. Plopping down buildings will crush plants so there's little clutter when base building.

Turning trees into organic crystal is a completely bogus recipe and I wonder why it exists. The inputs are excessive, it can't be automated, and it doesn't solve any problems in base design. It's not useful for creating organic crystals and is mostly about being a dumpster for wood/leaves.

You build another fuel slot. To put it in terms of another game, Satisfactory. You got lots of wood products unused as you play. I dump em into a pair of containers, let it process and stock up. It sits in a container if I need to jumpstart something or forget about.

Sides, just build another burner :-)

I dump my plant matter into a container, it feeds to a power plant for a little boost to the system. Or can have it just process into crystal to suppliment that supply.

Game has sinks, if you choose to use it.

I wonder.... Are you serious? You waste one second picking that crap up?

Sure! The buildy game crafter in me must clear the build location before I construct! I mean... how can you not?

I take a building and flatten area over trees, rocks etc. Once I found out there was zero use for the crap, it seemed pointless to waste time picking them up.

There is zero incentive to ever pick up more than 60 wood.

Roleplay is the greatest reason!

Good argument. I am going to do the tedious task of picking up trash on an unfinished single player game. Just so I can say, well golly gee, I role payed the heck out of that mech.

Dude, puuuuuuulease.

How about, you just let the devs take this suggestion and see if they can work out a better use?

Well, it is a game. Devs can make anything in game for any reason, heck, they could use the leaves to output bio oil if they wanted.

Sides, it is a game. Nothing has a point.

So darn tootin will roleplay a single player game. Clearing the land to put down the factory. Just like all other meaningless game tasks!
